Lots to talk about today...
Tune in at 4 ET!
Matt Bishop - January 17, 2012
Betcha didn’t think we’d be talking about PED use at the start of the day… AGAIN.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
WE AREEEEEEEEEEEEEE LIVE!
Matt Bishop - January 17, 2012
Hey bros
Earl Montclair - January 17, 2012
Sup, brah.
Only 6 posts before the facepalms dropped; what’d I miss?
SteveevaD - January 17, 2012
Hemminger puts asses in seats.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
nah, this is more suitable for my fail
Brian Hemminger - January 17, 2012
Bishop, don’t get jealous.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
FYI, I wasn’t jealous, pal!
Matt Bishop - January 17, 2012
Well
I picked an interesting day to be free and be able to listen to at least part of this show live, rather than on download after the fact.
Oh man, Brian has some unique stories, and I’m not saying that in a bad way.
I’m definitely interested in hearing you guys talk about the big stories of the day given that you guys have talked to that individual in person several times.
Blair Russell - January 17, 2012
Zzz….
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey is official for Columbus

Main Card:
Miesha Tate vs. Ronda Rousey (for female bantamweight title)

Over/Under 3000 people in the Nationwide arena?
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
Depends on if there’s over 3,000 comps.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Can the “I’m pissed now” quote be explained? Because it seemed really intense.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012

Matt Bishop - January 17, 2012
OH. MY. GOD.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
I think you guys need to talk about MMA.
MicahtheCynic - January 17, 2012
King mo. We gonna talk about that?
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
Strikeforce: Columbus
Who’ll pop hot next?
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
It’d be great if it was Rousey. It’s just recently that I’ve heard some of the trash she’s been talking as of late. I know, she’s playing a character to get attention and all that, but saying that Cris Cyborg has a penis… that sort of thing turns me off.
And no I’m not bashing her because of that thing with her vs. MMA Mania and Mr. Hemminger!
Blair Russell - January 17, 2012
Surprised
I step away for a minute and the first thing I hear is “Lex Luger”… that wasn’t expected.
Blair Russell - January 17, 2012
She’s also working MMA Mania over, eh Brian? Ehhhh?
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
haha
Crisis averted
Brian Hemminger - January 17, 2012
Yeah
I just happened to look at your Twitter account a few minutes ago so that’s how I saw the story, which reminds me that I probably should start following you on there, given that I follow the rest of the hosts of this show.
Blair Russell - January 17, 2012
damn right son, follow me!
I post my fight previews, analysis and interviews on there plus the occasional witty comment.
Brian Hemminger - January 17, 2012
HWGP was going to headline this but Cormier is still hurt
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
Strikeforce needs more Jericho.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
Where’s Herschel Walker when they need him?
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Most of the Zuffa machine will be in Japan and Australia leading up to the fight.
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
I figure Cyborg will probably get her sentance reduced in half.
pud333 - January 17, 2012
on what evidence though?
Brian Hemminger - January 17, 2012
Just a hunch.
I mean, hasn’t other fighters had their sentance reduced in half? I’m probably talking out of my ass…
pud333 - January 17, 2012
All she has to do is claim that Keith Kizer told her it was ok to take the "drink."
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
I can't remember
but wasn’t Sonnen’s sentance reduced in half, even though he basically lied the whole time?
pud333 - January 17, 2012
Basically meaning “Postponed until GSP is back…”
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
No compelling main events after they decided not to go with Jones/Henderson.
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
In the meantime....
maybe they can get Rory MacDonald a better opponent.
SteveevaD - January 17, 2012
Bad Prelims?
At least they’re on FUEL.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Che Mills might die.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
Glad to see the UFC did this.
At least we don’t get another UFC 96, UFC 119, or UFC 130.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
I bet they are slightly regretting tying up Cruz/Faber 3 until after TUF 15.
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
Anyone want to take a guess on Dana White’s blood pressure that week?
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
JDS/Overeem in Montreal?
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
That won’t be ready for a few months after that.
Matt Bishop - January 17, 2012
Do you really wanna see Mir get smashed by JDS/Reem. Even Cain will wreck him
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
ask forrest about king mo man. wtf mate
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
On Twitter
Forrest thought it was interesting that the positive test came back soon after Mo bashed the NSAC, and no matter what, he’s going to support Mo.
Blair Russell - January 17, 2012
Bishop…did you just call March 5th “Cinco de Mayo?”
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
No, my mistake.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
MY BOY KING MO! MY DAWG! MY DAWG!
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
Meh
Random testing. Anything else just isn’t effective.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Only winner is the airlines, who will benefit from a number of last minute “missed flights.”
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Hemmi, you dont really get steroids. id check steroids.com and learn a bit man
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
also u guys are missing the point. these are urine tests. not blood. urine is easier to fake.
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
Please, enlighten us.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Them's fightin' words! haha.
pud333 - January 17, 2012
The UFC has to show that it's doing something. Anything. Beyond that, it doesn't mean much.
pud333 - January 17, 2012
bigger stronger faster is one of my all time favorites. respect
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
also reading some history on patrick arnold is fascinating as well. He was responsible for the blaco scandle
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
i got money on GSP being on growth. has that gear gut man. a guy that lean seldom has a gut sticking out past his chest. just saying. Also, urine tests cant really test for growth.
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
I hope you're right, Matt.
pud333 - January 17, 2012
get blood tests.
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
id rather see everyone on steroids. now its even :)
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
This would have to monitored or else you’d have A LOT of steroid related health problems, injuries and possibly even deaths. ACs don’t have the money to carry out proper urine testing, much less monitoring the dangerous use of PEDs. Giving everyone free reign with PEDs is not a realistic answer.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Random testing done by ACs is what I want.
Failing that, random testing enforced and executed by the UFC.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
No, i dont want to see the commission doing it. They are incompetent.
If you want it done, it should be in house in the UFC. Keep it random like 6 times a year doing blood tests and that will solve your problem. Id rather see all of them on gear because the fighters are down to do it and id like to see the KOs
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
But they're more impartial.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
they can get it right.
When does the government doing anything well. Look no further that NSAC and CSAC. Watch teh hearings and you know its a joke. If the UFC doesnt enforce it, its because they dont want to. Not because they cant.
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
Give me a break. Are you going to continue to spew this laughable opinion?
Why would the UFC care at all? The commission’s incompetence has allowed the UFC to make boatloads of cash. There isn’t enough of an outcry for anyone to care.
Furthermore, if you actually did any research, you’d understand that blood testing is still behind the designer market.
Leland Roling - January 17, 2012
And the only reason we have this pre-signing test is to avoid these issues in the future. The UFC won’t release the results. It’ll just give them a gauge of who is juicing and who isn’t.
Leland Roling - January 17, 2012
They don’t have the legal authority to ramdomly test there Europoean based fighters. Hell in the UK they would need the fighters consent.
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
you cant see steroid levels in urine. blood only.
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
Look… it’s the epitome of the casual fanbase in the flesh.
Leland Roling - January 17, 2012
Regarding steroids....
instead of protien, I’d like an HGH boost added to my drink from the local SmoothieHut.
But I don’t punch people in the head for a living.
SteveevaD - January 17, 2012
The UFC won't randomly test everyone because they have too much to lose.
I suspect the UFC is trying to find a middle ground, where it allows them to show they’re serious, but at the same time don’t hang themselves in case a bunch of their top stars get popped. Blood tests are what I’d like to see at the very least, but this new policy is just a start by the UFC to see how far they should go. They’re testing the waters.
pud333 - January 17, 2012
They’re doing nothing but establishing bullet points they can point to when pressed about PED use in MMA.
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
Brian Hemminger is the Lance Storm of steroids in combat sports.
mountaineers101 - January 17, 2012
haha
Brian Hemminger - January 17, 2012
There are always guys out there trying to beat the test. theyll do it.
You want to lock it down, get WADA involved. Ban it out leagalize it. I dont care which but level the field.
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
Have you read WADA’s rules on random testing?
You can literally skip two tests without any reason before being punished.
Leland Roling - January 17, 2012
your getting tested 6 times a year, you can skip 2 and still be on thin ice
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
Skip one and cycle off. Pretty easy concept man.
Leland Roling - January 17, 2012
also blood testing helps blood doping
great way to up your cardio
Adam Reichental - January 17, 2012
Via White’s Twitter account.
Leland Roling - January 17, 2012
Yes!!!! We’ll get that Sonnen/Silva rematch for sure now!!!!!
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
holy crap
like 10 days to build up heat for the fight. I wonder how much gold Sonnen can come up with.
Also, is Maia now left out to dry?
Brian Hemminger - January 17, 2012
I hope they get a body in there for him to fight
That’d be brutal to be pulled 10 days prior
19Miles - January 17, 2012
Chris Weidman?
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
What about
PAUL HARRIS
Brian Hemminger - January 17, 2012
Maia vs Paul Harris would be an awesome fight!
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
why not
MattParker117 - January 17, 2012
I really like this
19Miles - January 17, 2012
9 out of 10 orthopedists support this matchup!
SteveevaD - January 17, 2012
Have to worry more about broken hands than knees.
Matt Bishop - January 17, 2012
Does the tenth work in Canada?
Machiel Van - January 17, 2012
SteveevaD - January 17, 2012
This is exciting.
Matt Bishop - January 17, 2012
Thanks everybody for listening!
