Mark Hominick will have to wait a bit longer to fight as the UFC postponed their March return to Montreal on Tuesday.
Citing "scheduling complications" and a desire to have a "championship card", the UFC indefinitely postponed their return to Montreal, Canada, Tuesday.
March 24th's UFC 145 was to be the promotion's fifth event in Montreal and their first there in over a year, but as The Canadian Press' Neil Davidson broke the news, it will be some time before the Octagon graces the Bell Centre. Davidson spoke with UFC Director of Canadian Operations Tom Wright who suggested the UFC will try again sometime in 2012.
MMA Junkie spoke with UFC President Dana White on the matter, confirming that White tried to get an April date but availability was scarce. No additional reasons were given for the move, but the spring schedule of fights may undergo some additional changes.
Fights will likely not be moved up to the March 3rd FX show in Australia as that card already has 10 fights. The April 14th FX event in Sweden is a slight possibility for one or two, but most likely the majority of bouts will move to the April 21st UFC 146 event in Atlanta, GA, assumed to be the new UFC 145.
Some of the confirmed Montreal fights that will need to be moved:

So there won’t be a UFC show at all on this date?
I hope they remember to give 6 ppvs to all the fans who ordered the UFC 6 pack from dish network or whoever.

Translation: we couldn’t line up a PPV-worthy main and co-main event.

Translation: We finally learned from events like UFC 72, 96, 108, 119, and 130.

Montreal could not adequately prepare themselves for the amazingness of Chad Griggs’ sideburns.

WWonder if Montreal fans would rather have a sub standard card or this postponment?

Replace Che Mills with
winner of Diaz/Condit and you have a title fight and one hell of a storyline when GSP returns :)

No fights form March 3rd to april 14th?? idk if i can deal with that, maybe they can put together a sick ass strikeforce card for march 24th…Cormier Barnett, & Mousassi Calvacante

Also, no PPV from late February until late April? That would be odd.

yeah don't be surprised if Philly or some other fight hungry city gets the card instead
AfroSamurai - January 18, 2012
They have to hold a march event otherwise 2 fx/fuel cards back to back
Wonder where they’ll put it
AfroSamurai - January 17, 2012
Big step up in comp for Che.

This was shaping up with a solid supporting card, but it looks like they just couldn’t get a main event in time. This is a good move by UFC, now they can improve some other cards, and not settle for average.

Wow
this flew under the radar. Can’t remember this happening before with so many fights lined up already
Stiff Jab - January 18, 2012
Yeah wonder why nobody is writing millions of articles speculating why it's canceled
