UFC bantamweight Mike Easton will face Jared Papazian on the main card of tonight's UFC on FX. MMA Nation's Luke Thomas spoke with Easton before the fight.

Easton and Luke cover a range of topics including:

  • U.S. judo Olympian Rhadi Ferguson helping with strength and conditioning for all of his UFC camps.
  • Spending his entire camp in Camp Springs, Maryland and not at Alliance Gym in San Diego. However, Brandon Vera did fly over to help.
  • Why training on the East Coast grittiness is better for fight camp training.
  • Just how different the 'UFC experience' is from previous fight experiences.
  • Using Dominick Cruz's footwork in the first round of his fight at UFC on Versus 6 against Byron Bloodworth to get his feet 'under him' after a two-year layoff.
  • Not worried about having a camp around one fighter throughout the entire process.
  • What he knows about his opponent Papazian.
  • A health update on UFC bantamweight Dominick Cruz and whether Easton will have a role on the next season of 'The Ultimate Fighter'
It's interesting that Easton is getting to fight live on FX in only his second fight with the UFC. Washington, D.C. area fans have known for a long time that this kid is potent, powerful and packs a lot of excitement in his fights. Will national fans will get to see him show his stuff against Papazian or will the late-replacement opponent spoil Easton's coming out party?

The full audio interview is after the jump.

is Rhadi Ferguson retired?

I don't know

trying to find out.

Thanks, I’ve checked his twitter account before, like a year ago, and it seemed like he wanted a fight but strikeforce just hadn’t made anything available

So would he fight Dominick Cruz?

Only in Virginia, so he could get the decision
Ohhh, nice burn

I only ask cause they train together.

"Using Dominick Cruz's footwork in the first round of his fight..."

So he moved around like a drunk monkey?

Kudos to Cruz for making his own crazy stand up style with the unorthadox head movement and foot work BUT he looks like a drunk & wounded animal and for me as effective as it may be it’s annoying to watch.

Kudos to Cruz for making his own crazy stand up style...he looks like a drunk & wounded animal

It is perplexing to me.
I like his style.
So Unique. So Strange.
So effective thus far.

To me, Cruz striking style is similar to the Diaz Bros. boxing inasmuch as I am completely unable to understand why/how it works…

Someone is going to kick Cruz in the legs one day

Then smash him in the face when he stops bouncing and his chin is up in the air.

We can only pray...
Renan Barao

Is that you?

I dislike the Diaz Bros. BUT I like to watch them fight... I dislike Cruz AND I dislike watching him fight.
I believe his style is Montclairian Double Hotfoot

Also called Jardinean Shuffle

Montclarian? As in Earl Monteclair?
You know the Earl of Montclair, son of the Duke of New Kahm?
No, too rich for my blood...his blood line stems from royality and nobility i only know peasants and villagers.

Duke, duke, duke, duke of Duke, duke, duke of BRRrreeeeeeeerrrrrrrr Cypress hill Cypress hill….

Rhadi is a bad, bad man.

Black belt in Judo
Black belt in BJJ
3-0 as an MMA fighter
Bachelors in mechanical engineering
PhD in education
4.0 gpa in 2 different universities

He’s a straight bad ass.

Can't believe he's related to the Baddest Man at the Barbeque
Every family should have a Kimbo.
I think in my family it's me :(

I’m the bread enthusiast.

Grow an epic beard and shave designs into your chest hair and everything will work out just fine.
As long as I stay away from Smoothie King locations

I wonder how many times when growing up Kimbo had to hear ‘Why can’t you be more like your cousin Rhadi?"

(even though Kimbo isnt a bad guy as people think he is)
