As with every major show, Bloody Elbow will be here to bring you live results, play by play and commentary for UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller. Our live coverage will start with the Fuel TV prelim broadcast (6 p.m. ET) and through the FX main card broadcast (9 p.m. ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.
This post will cover live results and thoughts for the undercard on Fuel.
In the main bout of the undercard, Jorge Rivera and Eric Schafer will meet in a middleweight bout with both men looking to get back in the win column. Kamal Shalorus meets the debuting Habib Nurmagomedov in a lightweight bout. Charlie Brenneman looks to bounce back from a loss in his last bout when he faces Daniel Roberts. Lightweights Fabricio Camoes and Tom Hayden also meet on the undercard. The broadcast is rounded out with a featherweight bout between Daniel Pineda and Pat Schilling as well as a bantamweight fight featuring Joseph Sandoval and Nick Denis.

The Fuel broadcast has started, first fight up shortly.
Nick Denis vs. Joseph Sandoval - Round 1 - Denis throwing hand quickly. Denis landing solid and now they clinch and Denis throws hard elbows in the clinch. Elbow after elbow and Sandoval goes stiff and is out cold. Wow! Nick Denis wins by KO (elbows), 0:22 round 1.
Daniel Pineda vs. Pat Schilling - Round 1 - They trade hard leg kicks at the same time and both lose their balance a little. Pineda with a nice leg kick after a pair of missed punches. Right hand by Schilling glances off the chin of Pineda. Pineda firing hard shots and he has Schilling hurt briefly. Schilling tries to clinch, gets taken down and Pineda jumps to mount. Punches force Schilling to give up his back and Pineda is drilling him. Pineda locks in a choke as Schilling tries to stand up and Pat has no choice but to tap. Daniel Pineda wins by submission (rear naked choke), 1:37 round 1.
Fabricio Camoes vs. Tom Hayden - Round 1 - Leg kick by Hayden. Jab by Hayden is timed well as he sidesteps the takedown attempt by Camoes. Big right hand by Hayden lands hard. Hayden takes the back standing and takes him down and now Camoes is trying to take an arm. Hayden gets up without being in any trouble. Camoes misses a head kick. Knee lands for Camoes and Hayden takes him down, lands an elbow and stands back up. Camoes ducks a head kick attempt, tries for a takedown, Hayden gets on top in the scramble. Omaplata attempt by Camoes and Hayden pulls out but Camoes catches his leg and takes him down to get on top. Nice strikes by Camoes and he ends up on the back of Hayden, looking for the choke. The choke finally gets locked in and Hayden has to tap out. Fabricio Camoes wins by submission (rear naked choke), 4:03 round 1.
Charlie Brenneman vs. Daniel Roberts - Round 1 - Right hand by Brenneman and Roberts drills him and hurts him. Brenneman with a big double leg and gets the fight to the ground. Brenneman to side control and Roberts is looking to control his head and regain guard. Brenneman is in the half guard of Roberts, trying to pass. Now working with some punches before jumping to side control. Brenneman gets the arm trapped in a crucifix. Roberts finally manages to get his arm free after getting hit by several shots (many to the back of the head). Brenneman keeps trying to get to mount but is being blocked at every turn. Brenneman mixing knees to the body in to his punches to the head. Roberts manages to get full guard back. 10-9 round for Brenneman.
Round 2 - Roberts threw a head kick that was blocked, then another kick which Brenneman caught and used to get a takedown. Roberts tried to catch a choke but couldn't. Brenneman passed to side control with relative ease and trapped an arm for the crucifix again. Brenneman able to do a little damage before Roberts manages to escape and get the guard back. They're restarted on the feet. Brenneman drives right in trying to get the takedown. Roberts defending and landing a lot of soft elbows. In a scramble Roberts manages to get a series of submission attempts, looking for the inverted triangle as the round ends. Still a 10-9 Brenneman round.
Round 3 - Right hand by Brenneman and he follows that in to a clinch and gets the takedown right into side control. Brenneman landing knees to the body now. Brenneman working from side control while Herb Dean barks "let's work!" at him over and over. Not sure what that's about. As soon as Roberts is able to regain guard, Herb stands them up. Brenneman defends the shot from Roberts and gets a takedown. Working with punches and control and as he passes, Roberts tries to lock in a kimura with Brenneman in side control and the round ends. 10-9 Brenneman again but I know one judge will give it to Roberts.
Official scorecards: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28. Charlie Brenneman wins by unanimous decision.
Kamal Shalorus vs. Habib Nurmagomedov - Round 1 - We're going with Kamal and Habib here to make things easy on me. Kamal is walking forward and stalking and he lands a left hand before they tangle up. Kamal with a few knees to the body before they get to distance. Kamal just misses with a wild right hand. Head kick by Kamal is blocked. Habib doesn't exactly look comfortable here. Neither guy is really landing. Habib with a right hand that knocks Kamal flat. He follows up with nasty ground and pound but Kamal is surviving ably here. Kamal manages to get to his feet after eating a lot of shots there. He's throwing power shots at Habib but isn't landing. Both guys with arm punches as they've gassed a bit. Another big shot from Habib lands, Kamal fires back. 10-9 round for Habib Nurmagomedov.
Round 2 - Leg kick from Kamal. Habib is able to get the takedown against the cage. He's trying to do some work but can't land anything and they're stood up. Shot by Habib and he gets the takedown again. Pass to side control now. Another stand-up after more non-action on the ground. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.
Round 3 -Kamal is chasing again, he's not cutting off the cage by using angles, he's just following and not landing anything. Kamal with a single leg attempt and can't get the takedown. They arm punch at each other. Kamal with an arm in guillotine attempt but Habib pops his head free and is on top here. Habib passes quickly and manages to lock in a rear naked choke and get the submission win. Habib Nurmagomedov wins by submission (rear naked choke), 3:08 round 3.
Jorge Rivera vs. Eric Schafer - Round 1 - Rivera misses with a right hand and Schafer tries to clinch up with him. Now Schafer powers through a takedown attempt and Rivera is trying to use the fence to stay standing. Schafer gets the takedown completed and is trying to pass immediately. Rivera has him in half guard. Rivera manages to get back to his feet but Schafer still has him pinned against the cage. Schafer manages to get the takedown again. Rivera is trying to sweep or find some way off bottom but he's getting hit a bit now. Schafer just working the slow ground and pound but Rivera manages to sweep late in the round. Omoplata attempt by Schafer at the end of the round. 10-9 Schafer.
Round 2 - Schafer looking for the takedown right away and he has Rivera into the cage. He can't get it and Rivera jumps on top and is throwing punches. Rivera landing and Schafer just covering up here. Rivera throwing punches and Schafer isn't doing much so Herb Dean has to jump in and stop it. Jorge Rivera wins by TKO (punches), round 2.

1 minute before the picking deadline around 10 guys were stuck at less than 100% completed picks. These included (from memory) Shotokanman at 77%, Robert Cowan at 60%, 5-8 guys at 90%, Subbevil at 0% (shocker!!) and most notably, member of 3rd ranked Filipino Reccing Machines, nitecastle at 0%.
If Playground is to be believed then the 10 remaining Filipinos must produce to stay in the top 3.

I agree punches and RNCs will always be the go-to moves. We won’t see knees to the body that much but a lot more often than now.
And because of the rules they won’t be big finishers but are devastating and will lead to stoppages or at least position changes.

Well I just.. don’t get me wrong, I watch most of his interviews, and listen to the MMA Hour every week (well, I fastforward between the interesting parts). It’s just that he sometimes annoys me, like he always wants to insert himself into the narrative, he always gets pissy when someone dislikes him. Also he has some stupid opinions, like he doesn’t want to allow knees on the ground. He said that Matt Mitrione will be HW champ one year from now.. stuff like that. And his fucking fans always call into the show and ask him for his picks for upcoming fights, which is annoying as hell.

Yeah, not wanted knees to the head of a grounded opponent is pretty stupid.
As far as his interviews go though, he captures some great stuff. The Mayhem Miller interview (don’t be scared homie), the Nick Diaz interview (where he threatens to slap him), and the numerous Rampage interviews are all great stuff.

That’s why I’ve learned to just skip between the interviews on the MMA Hour so I don’t have to hear his chatter with fans and general talk with his colleagues and stuff. To each their own though.

Maybe he didn’t want to see more finishes in MMA? Or maybe he thought that giving fighters more wrestling based fighters more tools for victory was a bad idea? Or maybe he didn’t want to see tired wrestlers punished for sloppy shots during the later rounds?
Either way, I don’t see why. It’s not like it is a skill-less technique like an eye poke or a dick kick. We allow it on the feet, why not on the ground? Makes no sense.

Yeah, if you want to ensure the growth of the sport and promotion, going on an expensive premium channel that very few have is not a good choice. That was a sad day for MMA fandom in our country, IMHO. Then again they do re-play the events a week after on that TV4 Sport I mentioned, also air TUF there with a weeks delay, and sometimes Unleashed in the middle of the night. So there is some content there for casuals, but hardcores like you and me won’t wait a week to see it.

In a spot where you don’t know for sure, it’s better to do what he did then stop it and have it be controversial. Of course, that’s only if the guy is conscious. When refs can’t tell the difference between a tap and a convulsion, that worries me.

I'm the same.
I prefer technical striking(not GSP jabbing boredom bonanza)but good grappling displays can be really awesome. I think that especially in the first two rounds, where Roberts was still fresh were pretty entertaining, especially in the opening parts of the rounds, where there were scrambles. It did get a little tedious towards the end though.
