Pat Barry defeats Christian Morecraft by knockout. The stoppage came at 3:38 in the first round.
Pat Barry entered the fight with his back against the wall. With two losses in a row and an overall UFC record of 3-4, it became hard to justify his spot on the heavyweight roster. With his back against the way, Barry put on the best performance of his career. Showcasing phenomenal submission defense and preventing several of Morecraft's takedowns, it was a more well-rounded Barry.
The finish came at the end of the first round when Barry slipped one of Morecraft's punches and landed a tight hook which landed flush to the chin. Several punches later and referee Herb Dean was forced to stop the fight. A fired up Barry pushed Dean and then flexed at Morecraft's downed body.
Barry is now .500 in the UFC and 7-4 in his MMA career. Christian Morecraft drops to 7-3 and 1-3 in the UFC.

Herb Dean is usually pretty good
but that was a late stoppage

looking at the replay it wasnt Finney/Winslowesque but it was a punch or 2 slow

So impressed with Barry
He said he improved, but I took it with a grain of salt. The old Barry would’ve lost at the first time Morecraft had his back, let alone escape that tight armbar.

The arm bar reversal made me so happy

Barry said that he was trying to fix his weaknesses, and he did
Good win here from Barry, and it’s just good to see improvement from him.

I've been pretty critical of Pat Barry
But that was certainly a display of superior striking skill and accuracy compared to what we are used to seeing in MMA, particularly in the heavyweight division. Slipped a punch, landed a left hook and followed up with pinpoint strikes on the ground. Brutal stuff.
If he can just abstain from bro huggin and high fivin’ dudes in the cage he might make a fan out of me.

I was hoping that regardless of who won the loser would get cut
I’m not happy at him pushing Herb Dean and then flexing at a ko’d opponent. I guess he’s so used to being that lifeless body that it felt good for him to be in the opposite position.
Its unfortunate they couldn’t have just cut both of em.
