Fedor Emelianenko's Management Throws Cold Water On Bobby Lashley Rumors

Photo

We posted earlier this week about a report that former pro-wrestler and Strikeforce veteran Bobby Lashley might be the next opponent for Fedor Emelianenko. Apparently there's not a lot to those rumors. Evgeni Kogan, director of operations for M-1 Global spoke to USA TODAY and threw cold water on the Lashley story:

"There are currently no concrete conversations about Bobby being the next opponent for Fedor," Kogan wrote, adding that Emelianenko probably will fight two or three times this year. Possible locations for the summer fight include Monaco and Russia, according to Kogan.

The 35-year-old Lashley (7-1, 1-1 Strikeforce) is the current Shark Fights heavyweight champion and went 2-0 since leaving Strikeforce. He's a far cry from the world beaters that Fedor once faced in Rings, Pride, Affliction and Strikeforce but he's actually quite comparable to Fedor's last two opponents: the 41-year-old Jeff Monson (43-13) and Satoshi Ishii. (4-2-1).

Bloody Elbow will continue to report on this story as it develops.

Well,

there goes fight of the year.

It`s too bad.

There isnt`t a lot of good fights out there for the fallen emperor

Bobby Lashely isn’t a good fight.

Bobby Lashley

is a tough fight for anyone. Lashley —> UFC HW Champ 2013

i have to know what psychoblack thinks about this one. he’ll probably say it’s racist to snub Lashley like this.

i bet he knows Lashley is mediocre at best

no one can be that bias…..or can they?>

i’m biased towards you changing your name back, homie.
real talk.

I hate real talk

fake talk is the best talk imo.
hate is a stong emotion.

maybe this will teach you how to love again:

Thompson vs Sapp is off?
Give em the Sylvia rematch.
only if it's under IGF Pro Wrestling rules
LOL, it appears the proverbial yawn heard across the world has forced M-1 to change their mind. I believe mind control was involved.

Sounded like an okay fight to me :(

ya okay, but not Fedor calibur.
I think they realized that Lashley was too gormandized.

Notice they didn’t say there have been no conversations with Lashley. They only said there has been nothing ‘concrete’ yet.

Sounds to me like they are talking to him, but nothing has been agreed to yet.

Probably trying to keep his asking price down
Exactly what I was going to say

There’s no concrete conversations with Lashley. Just his manager.

Lashley vs Batista is more Bobbys speed.

That’s my greatest hope for MMA, an announcement that Fedor is fighting Batista. The epic lolz that would occur are huge.

I was expecting a bunch of sad gifs to counteract the comment section for the fight announcement. You disappoint, BE.

Nobody is really sad about this.
Here's Kid Cudi kicking rocks..better?

Shouldn't he be having a 3rd album coming by now?
He has his rock album coming out...

It’s his 808 and heartbreaks album.

I wish Kanye would get in another wreck so he'd be cool again.
If it sounds kind of like Erase Me

It shouldn’t be too bad.

I've heard a few tracks

some of them are completely different from Erase Me.

Like 808 and Heartbreaks it seems like theres going to be some good tracks and more tracks that are pretty bad. I hope i’m wrong though.

I wish they were switching places
he’s actually quite comparable to Fedor’s last two opponents: the 41-year-old Jeff Monson (43-13) and Satoshi Ishii. (4-2-1).

Whoa, whoa, whoa. That’s not fair, Monson is world class in one area of MMA and Ishii at one point had the potential to be a good fighter.

Bobby Lashley has chronic lactic acidosis.

Jeff Monson is a shell of the fighter he once was

And that fighter wasn’t anywhere near the top of the division anyway.

And Ishii may have had all the potential in the world but at no point during his MMA career has Ishii been what anyone would refer to as a good fighter.

No argument.

It’s still unfair to put Bobby Lashley in the same category.

Wasn’t Lashley a candidate to replace Barnett at one point during the Affliction: Trilogy fiasco?

i’m not even sure Lashley had started MMA training at that point.
he was probably still in WWE.

Yeah, you might be right.

Yes, you are correct

Lashley was being discussed before they canceled the entire event. At the time he was 4-0, having just beaten Bob Sapp.

Can’t they rustle up a middleweight who needs a paycheck to fight Fedor? Give Patrick Cote a call.

Perhaps Fedor can't grow the sideburns necessary to defeat Bobby Lashley?
For the love of God

Change your name back already.

The Last Emperor is ducking the Dominator?
Dominic Cruz?
Dominick Cruz is ducking me
Not that one, silly!
Thank God...

Jesus grows weird facial hair
Permanent deviation in the beard from constant prayer hands
Pretty sure

He just has the worlds biggest butt-chin.

Nope

That is Faber

I wish I had a glowing light behind my head!
Like sands through the hour glass

these are the days of Fedor

Pedo Rizzo? Ricco Rodriguez? Shamil Abdurahimov?

Those guys are floating around.

Is there no chance of him getting at Cole Konrad?

I reckon the money just isn’t there.

I am more leaning forward now to a rematch against Ivanov in Russia. Maybe not a established name in US, but a much better fighter than Lashley, and possibly a big fight in Russia.
