Over the past year it has become quite clear that Ronda Rousey is not afraid to speak her mind. In a recent video, while talking about a variety of topics, it was time for Georges St. Pierre to feel her wrath.
First the video:
Quote (transcription via MixedMartialArts.com):
I think that fighters that just try to win by points and come away with a win are actually bad for the sport. If you never saw MMA before, and you walked in and you saw GSP and Koscheck, and all this jabbing out the whole time, it looks like a boring boxing match. And I don't think you gain any fans with a fight like that.
And so I really hope that Nick Diaz beats the crap out of him, because Nick Diaz is entertaining, and he's an entertaining character in general. He might not be popular but I mean I can't but watch every video he puts out youtube. I think it's funny as Hell. And every single one of his fights is a brawl. It's not like a pitter pat match where afterwards he goes "Were friends, were all friends" and then okay let's go home. I think that's boring.
GSP was good for the sport for a while. He brought in some big sponsors like Gatorade and UnderArmor. But I think he's done everything he can in a positive way and he needs to step aside and let Nick Diaz kick his ass.
I'd say that it's hard to say that the only guy currently on the roster who can push UFC pay-per-view buys to the one million mark isn't "good for the sport." But maybe that's just me.

Ronda's getting a little big for her 4-0 britches
Skoobs - January 26, 2012
No freaking kidding. Who the heck is she to bitch about the sports most popular and best selling fighter?
Shnak - January 26, 2012
An Olympic athlete with an opinion
Let’s not forget Ronda is not some flash-in-the-pan hot chick, she’s a legit martial artist.
ihateemo - January 26, 2012
Oh hush.
Let’s not forget GSP is one of the sport’s most recognized and popular fighters. He is the faces of the sport, Rousey is not.
andrew861 - January 26, 2012
Oh, I totally agree
But what she’s saying is hardly coming out of left field. The “GSP is boring” meme runs rampant amongst a lot of MMA fans, including the UG and right here on BE. Some of the writers here have been very open about questioning why GSP didn’t finish opponents that were completely shellacked by “lesser” opposition.
ihateemo - January 26, 2012
3-0 in the interview.
Before the Budd fight.
Machiel Van - January 26, 2012
That is a fair criticism and certainly one that many fans would agree with but for her to say “[GSP] needs to step aside and let Nick Diaz kick his ass” or to say “GSP is no longer doing positive things” is not only disrespectful but just plan silly.
I’m not exactly the biggest GSP fan but he has brought a huge amount of publicity, media, and fans to the sport and to be honest, he has made and will continue to make more of an impact than Rousey ever will.
andrew861 - January 26, 2012
seriously
it’s a lot of big talk from a fighter who will herself never be in a position to actually fight GSP.
oxala75 - January 26, 2012
So she shouldn't have an opinion and just needs to shut up!
Thanks, Bill O’Reilly ;)
ihateemo - January 26, 2012 via mobile
Thank you
asa - January 26, 2012
fuck it
we’ll just do it live!
Rocejize - January 26, 2012
Let’s also not forget, that Rhonda is just saying what the vast majority of hardcore fans have been saying for years. It doesn’t matter if she is 4-0 or the face of MMA… It’s true.
Empty Thoughts - January 26, 2012
Vast Majority?
cmonson.jpg
nicey - January 26, 2012
Don’t worry, it’s just an empty thought
Skoobs - January 26, 2012
I’ve said it before, but attacking the screen name isn’t a worry to me. It’s honestly the easiest way to see who isn’t even worth responding to. :)
Empty Thoughts - January 26, 2012
The vast majority of hardcore fans think GSP brings nothing to MMA anymore? Really? I mean, he’s only the most popular guy in the sport, and by a large margin.
Shnak - January 26, 2012
Be honest now. Do you personally pine to see GSP fight? If you say you do, either you enjoy watching extremely dominate but extremely boring MMA… or you are simply lying.
Saying that, I should have been more specific with my comment. I don’t agree that he brings nothing to the sport as obviously he brings in the casual viewers like crazy. I do agree with pretty much everything else she said though. GSP is boring and it hurts the sport in the long run.
Empty Thoughts - January 26, 2012
There isn't one MMA fan that wasn't excited to watch GSP-Diaz or GSP-Condit
There are plenty of whiners like yourself who say they won’t watch a GSP fight again, but you’re not kidding anyone.
GSP faced guys whose goal was a decision loss. Hardy outright admitted it (there were plenty of finishing attempts anyway, though GSP was at fault for lack of damage). Koscheck backpedaled the whole fight. Shields had no intention of winning (abandoned his ground game).
paythefighters - January 27, 2012
I’ve never said that I won’t watch a GSP fight again actually. I don’t buy cards because he is on them though. I buy them if the undercard is attractive enough without the main event that features him.
That said, you are right. Everybody was looking forward to a Diaz or Condit vs GSP fight. The reason being is that both fighters are known to push until they are stopped or until they stop their opponent. When is the last fight besides either of these two which haven’t happened that people were actually looking forward to see him fight? More to the point, which was the last one where people weren’t hoping he would actually lose?
You can play the whole it’s not his fault it’s theirs… but it sure seems to be a problem that he has more than most.
Empty Thoughts - January 27, 2012
Other than Lesnar up until a few weeks ago, I get the most amped up about watching GSP fights. Is this finally the man to beat GSP? Will GSP be able to finish this guy? And when neither happens, I still get to see someone at the top of his art making a fool out of his opponent.
Shnak - January 27, 2012
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I’m always interested to see somebody beat GSP, but I’m never hyped at all to see the fights. Perhaps the upcoming Condit / Diaz fight might have me excited… but it will still be just because I hope to see GSP get dethroned.
Empty Thoughts - January 27, 2012
That's yet to be seen.
Success in Judo doesn’t necessarily mean enduring success in MMA. Pawel Nastula ring a bell?
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
I always laugh when nobodys on the Internet or writers tell athletes
“Who are you to voice this opinion” LOL…Who are YOU to voice your opinion?
warren305 - January 26, 2012
Those opinions are for us nobodies. If we weren’t here to absorb and critique their opinions, they wouldn’t be delivering them
Skoobs - January 26, 2012
Exactly, we have the right to opine on anything we want
So does she.
warren305 - January 26, 2012
Opine? We do have another O'Reilly fan here
Skoobs - January 26, 2012
In recovery
Went through a dark dark phase. O’Reilly’s really not that bad, Hannity is the sociapath
warren305 - January 26, 2012
Yeah, Bill tries to keep it civil (fair and balanced). Hannity and his girlfriend Ann Coulter are sociopaths. And I love ’em!!
Skoobs - January 26, 2012
That shits addictive
I used to watch just to disagree and hate them. Then I took an arrow to knee.
warren305 - January 26, 2012
She said the same thing most of us have said
and most of us are 0-0.
If they ask her a question, she can answer it however she wants.
Shaun32887 - January 26, 2012
and we may question her hormonal balance.
Yan117 - January 26, 2012
I'm 0-1 and I agree with her
PeteJ - January 27, 2012
Funny that most MMA fans have said that,
because alot of MMA fans are pretty fucking stupid, fickle, and dramatic. I wonder how much overlap there is…?
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
I'm not agreeing with them
I’m just pointing out that she has just as much of a right to voice her opinion as we do; her record shouldn’t factor into the discussion.
Shaun32887 - January 27, 2012
Of course she has a right to her opinion,
just as I have the right to criticize it.
And yes- her record is a factor, because she’s not speaking from a position of experience. Rousey has fought nothing but tomato cans, tomato cans that aren’t hard to look good against.
When Rousey starts dominating the best fighters in her weight class, THEN she might have a leg to stand on.
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
Most popular and best selling fighter does not equal most entertaining.
VeeisAnimated - January 26, 2012
No but
sounds like he doing some positive things.
Yan117 - January 26, 2012
alot of those positive things
are simply an accident of where he was born. A bunch of Canadians will buy GSP cards, to watch their champion fight.
I’m not saying Canadian nationalism manifesting itself as UFC PPV purchases is a bad thing, just that a whole bunch of people are fans of his because of where he is from, not what he has done.
The Lethal Haze - January 26, 2012
All Canadian UFC fighters are big stars over here it's true.
In my own town for example, Patrick Cote crossed a street the other day and a large crowd of tens of thousands assembled just to watch him walk by. Stores were closed in a five mile radius and anti riot squads had to be called in. We do love our own.
Yan117 - January 26, 2012
Oh damn you're right
Nationalism has nothing to do with why cards with GSP draw a fuckload of buys from Canadians. He must have something that other headliners don’t…
The Lethal Haze - January 26, 2012
A UFC Champions Belt?
TorQus - January 26, 2012
yeah, that is the reason he outdraws all the other champs...
the WW belt is just more exciting then all the other ones.
The Lethal Haze - January 26, 2012
Damn
Straight
TorQus - January 26, 2012
Where's your proof?
Canada has 1/9th the population of the US. You can be damn sure that most of GSP’s money is coming from US fans. That’s why his biggest sponsors are US companies putting him in ads/magazines targeting US customers.
paythefighters - January 27, 2012
Yeah… that’s why he was mobbed by thousands in the Phillipines… they mob every canadian MMA fighters over there, obviously.
Do you really think Canadians are responsible for even half of these 800k+ PPV buys he gets everything he fights? Sure…
Shnak - January 27, 2012
It's not in the transcript, but people should watch the setup for that answer
the interviewer says “GSP is my favorite fighter. Who is your favorite (male) fighter?”
Leaving aside the ridiculousness of phrasing a question that way, I don’t see how you can blame her for offering her honest opinion.
Dave Strummer - January 26, 2012
when she started getting attention in the MMA world i liked her right away, but she is starting to slowly enter the “i am talking a lot of sh*t and maybe i need to get punched in the face and humbled a bit” zone
phantom5691 - January 26, 2012
I think she likes to push people's buttons.
Like when she challenged Miesha and Miesha got so upset about it, and Ronda just thrived on it and kept going. I’m fine with all her talk as long as she is willing to risk getting into the cage and getting punched in the face and humbled. I think she’s entertaining.
KatGirl - January 26, 2012
She succeeds in pushing my buttons, in all the wrong ways. I wouldn’t pay $5 to watch one of her fights specifically because I dislike her attitude so much that I’m completely uninterested in what she does professionally. Guess if turning people off by being a bad Chael Sonnen rip-off artist is what she considers good for the sport, well, then I have to agree that she’s much better for MMA than GSP. But entertaining? Not my cup of tea. I prefer not to be aggravated by my entertainment.
I’m aware I’m in the extreme minority here. I don’t know why exactly she bothers me so much; maybe her smug sense of entitlement…. But she really, really does.

lolumad - January 26, 2012
Who in Womens MMA right now though really gets that much attention especially after the Cyborg debacle? Rousey really is one of the only driving forces for MMA fans and people in general to watch Womens MMA. It helps too that she’s has legit martial arts credentials in Judo and is attractive to some.
Personally, I think that Rousey is the shot in the arm that Womens MMA needs.
chrisbboy82 - January 26, 2012
Gina Carano's movie has brought more attention to WMMA than anything Rousey has done or ever will do.
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
You think so?
I’m sorry to say, but I just don’t see it. I would think that the movie brought more attention to Gina Carano, but not Womens MMA. If Gina’s not fighting in MMA, why would people care about Womens MMA? I would understand it if Gina was actually fighting, then people who saw the movie or just thinks she’s hot would want to watch her fight in MMA, but since she’s not fighting, I don’t see how she would bring more attention to Womens MMA.
If you can tell me the connection, then I would be more inclined to agree with you, but right now, I just can’t.
chrisbboy82 - January 27, 2012
Yeah, big talk from a greenhorn.
I think Tate will dominate her, too.
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
Anybody else
Think that Ronda is taking hyping lessons from Chael?
Patrick Wyman - January 26, 2012
Yes and it's working.
Hopefully GSP doesn’t offer to help train Ronda’s next opponent out of spite though.
menckenstein - January 26, 2012
Maybe
We could get a Miesha Tate-GSP super couple out of the deal. Our very own Brangelina or something.
Patrick Wyman - January 26, 2012
GSP would never betray David Loiseau like that
That bond is too strong.

Both her and Caraway
Was what I heard. I know he trained up in the northwest for his last fight, not sure where Tate’s getting ready for the Rousey fight.
Patrick Wyman - January 26, 2012
Yeah
As of recent it seems she’s trying to build a persona or character for herself. While she was on the Rogan podcast she wasn’t pulling any of this stuff.

Not particularly recent.

But that last line was stupid..
Fuckin a, lady..
Charles Awad - January 26, 2012
Honestly?
I’d prefer a bunch of consumate professionals like GSP to a bunch of dudes like Diaz. And i definitely believe that it will be better for the sport in the future as well, especially with the Fox deal and everything.
Magaca - January 26, 2012
That’s today’s innocent, sheltered, everyone gets a medal, hug it out generation talking. Lemme ask you something: was Mike Tyson a consummate pro? Was Ali, calling Frazier a gorilla? Was Duran or Erik Morales, snarling and fouling dudes and hitting up the bitches and yayo between fights? You know who is really professional? The Klitschkos. And absolutely no one gives a rats dick about them. There is a 125+ year history of what works in the fight business, of what people want to see, and it isn’t Cruz or Edgar point fighting their way to victory or GSP crushing Shields with a head kick and then standing there staring at him.
Hutchy - January 26, 2012 via mobile
Tons of people give a dick about the Klitschko's.
America =/= the world.
Tons of people give dicks about Manny Pacqiao, Roger Federer etc. as well.
Magaca - January 26, 2012
Also
Pitterpat punching and standing over people has zero to do with out-of-the-cage behaviour. You’re getting everything mixed up in your attempt to be right.
Magaca - January 26, 2012
'Murica may not be the world, but we sure as hell control it
at least we think we do..
Rocejize - January 26, 2012
I want more Chaels
Those two interviews posted last night were absolutely hysterical. My roommate, who doesn’t follow MMA, immediately went and watched all Sonnen’s recent fights and is looking forward to Saturday.
ihateemo - January 26, 2012 via mobile
is it ridiculous to not only want but like both types of fighters?
i might be the only person on this site that absolutely loves to watch both these types of fighters. you no what type of fighters i hate to watch…..the Matt Riddles of the world.
Fighters that show unparalleled skills or fighters that excite by finishing fights w/ a good skill set are both amazing to see.
i love to watch GSP dismantle his opponents and i love to watch Diaz finish his fights. why does it have to be one or the other?
F'n Clownshoes - January 26, 2012
Fitch and Wandy are my favorites and they are polar opposites in the cage.
Zachary Kater - January 26, 2012
That's why GSP sells out arenas and gets huge PPV numbers right?
let’s not get ridiculous now
Kid Kimura - January 26, 2012
Only Americans take the either of the Klitschkos for granted, anyone with an objective head for boxing knows that Wlad is on the short-short list for best heavyweight.
WheelieMonkey - January 26, 2012
The Klitschkos?
The guys who can fill stadiums repeatedly even though everyone knows who’s going to win? Yeah, no one gives a toss about those guys.
VenusBlue - January 26, 2012
Here is the difference
Boxing started as a gentleman’s sport, which is why is was accepted into the mainstream. Once boxing had its foothold, it was able to survive and thrive on controversial characters. MMA is still fighting for basic licensing in some of America’s biggest markets. License stalling because many people don’t understand the sport of MMA. They just see the Diaz’ of the world throwing up middle fingers, swearing every chance they get, and assume that ALL fighters in this sport must be similar. Boxing had many many years of empirical evidence on it’s side, as well as a black tie history in late 19th century U.S/U.K. MMA doesn’t have that luxury, so they need to establish their brand with ambassadors who don’t perpetuate the image that all MMA fighters are uncontrollable, unlikable, hoods.
younggunzvt - January 26, 2012
It's 2012. This sort of mindset is outdated.
Akemi Homura - January 26, 2012
Is it?
Most of the UFC’s new target demo don’t understand what they are watching in the octagon anyhow, so the way the fighter and organization represent themselves goes a long way in molding the impressions that casual fans will have of the sport.
younggunzvt - January 26, 2012
Maybe GSP would've jumped on Shields
had he not been practically blinded in one eye by flagrant eye pokes throughout the fight. Funny how Rousey forgot to mention that. Or that all of GSP’s boring “jab spamming” turned Koscheck’s face into ground beef for 6 months.
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
The fact that Koscheck was essentially blind and wasn’t finished doesn’t help your argument…
Empty Thoughts - January 27, 2012
You're one of 225,000.
Akemi Homura - January 26, 2012
Yeah cus GSP usually sells 225,000, right?
Magaca - January 26, 2012
Don't shift the goalposts.
GSP being a draw has absolutely nothing to do with him being a “consummate professional,” if anything its a detriment to his popularity. Ask any casual fan what they remember the most about GSP and I bet its going to be “I’m not impressed by your performance.”
Akemi Homura - January 26, 2012
I disagree.
I think that nationalism, good looks and the fact that he has a “nice guy” persona that breaks stereotypes are what makes him a draw.
Magaca - January 26, 2012
nah
We NEED both. People who think this sport would be entertaining without the Diaz’s of the world are out of there mind. It’s guys like Diaz that make me appreciate guys like Cotoure. If it was all one or the other, it would be painfully boring.
Corrupted - January 26, 2012
Yeah, dudes who put on exciting fights are bad for business

That’s rich…coming from the division of the sport that has the least followers and brings us pretty much the most consistently boring fights.
I would love for GSP to be knocking the fuck out of people as much the next person, but to say he’s not doing positive things for the sport is retarded. The level of professionalism he brings to the sport, both in approach and demeanor is second to none.
parkerino - January 26, 2012 via mobile
Ronda is annoying
I know he’s less high profile but I think Cruz is much more of a pitter pat point fighter than GSP. But somehow people think he’s exciting. All that being said I’d love to see her and Cyborg fight. Cyborg by t-bag.

Mr. Socko - January 26, 2012 via mobile
Rousey’s still relatively new to the sport and is in a division that isn’t exactly made to draw in fans. To draw in fans though, I think she’s doing the right thing.

HeadKickLegSweep - January 26, 2012
Edgar is boring
But not b/c of his fights. He has no charisma, he looks like a Peter Parker type nerd (but fights like Spiderman), and it’s the lightweight division which isn’t compelling to anyone but us.
Kid Kimura - January 26, 2012
Yeah, I do not understand how anyone could find Edgar's fights boring.
VenusBlue - January 26, 2012
Because they lack a sense of danger
I don’t dislike Frankie as a fighter. He’s obviously extremely talented, and he maintains a high work rate. The last two Maynard fights were obviously amazing because of the back and forth. But when Frankie fights, but the main thing missing in Frankie’s fights, to me, is that sense of danger that spikes your pulse rate.
The fighters who are the most exciting are those who can change the course of a fight dramatically, with a single strike, or a well timed, nasty sub. Frankie’s great at what he does, but what he does is pretty methodical.
Dave Strummer - January 26, 2012
The Griffin and Bocek fights were the MOST BORINGEST THINGS EVER. Frankie Edgar should be ashamed.
discoandherpes - January 26, 2012
Seriously. I hated that fight. Didn't have a finish.
Worst fight ever was Edgar vs. Maynard II. Only Shogun vs. Hendo comes a close 2nd.
SSreporters - January 26, 2012
I still like her.
KatGirl - January 26, 2012
Ronda Rousey exposed as a (kick ass) Diaz groupie.
spectaa - January 26, 2012
If I recall correctly, GSP broke Koschecks face
His face.
Winning is winning. Boring, sometimes, but you have to respect that kind of win streak against that kind of talent.
HeadKickLegSweep - January 26, 2012
Well said.
Zachary Kater - January 26, 2012
respecting someone's talent is different...
…than getting excited every time someone fights. Diaz gets me excited every single time…I haven’t been excited about a GSP fight in forever…until he was going to fight Diaz.
Corrupted - January 26, 2012
I get your point
I honestly think GSP is just as talented as he has always been, he’s just been on a hesitant streak. For example: the Shields fight. When he picked up Shields and just dumped him, I thought he was finally going to open up and just unload on shields, but I guess the eye thing and whatever. The fight was tedious, but I was still on the edge of my seat.
I mean, the knockout punch, the slick grappling, the quick sub, doesn’t always happen and it’s a shame when both fighters are really waiting for the other to throw so they can counter, but we still watch.
Still have to respect the streak.
HeadKickLegSweep - January 27, 2012
that fight should have been stopped
cowardice on the part of the ringside doctor, the ref, and koscheck’s corner. Kos is lucky his eye wasn’t completely obliterated.
The Lethal Haze - January 27, 2012
Yeah dude.
Georges fucked up his face so hard, Josh couldn’t train for 6 MONTHS.
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
Yes
chillnnsht - January 26, 2012
what a stupid thing to say
So….. GSP should LET Nick beat the crap out of him….looool. I think he should fight him instead. I sure hope the fight will be entertaining , but a win is a win…. Not good for the sport….hes selling, first of all…
AND by the way, Nick needs a GSP and GSP needs some opposition like the kind Diaz has to offer. The fact that they are so different is what creates an interesting bout
Thinker30 - January 26, 2012
She needs to stfu
Don’t understand why people think this woman is hot or worth listening to. She has a big mouth for someone that’s done relatively nothing in the sport.
STLVATO - January 26, 2012
Won all her fights, fighting for a title, Olympic medalist
What a hack.
ihateemo - January 26, 2012
yes the bronze medal is the most coveted olympic medal apparently
elmojo - January 26, 2012
bronze is the same as gold just dont flip it over..honor system.
gxc - January 26, 2012
BRONZE IS THIRD WORST
ihateemo - January 26, 2012 via mobile
yeah, I just throw my Olympic Bronze medals away now
RashadsLeftNipple - January 26, 2012
Name an american in any weight class or category, male or female
who won a gold in Judo.
Its a big fucking deal.
judonerd - January 26, 2012
I'm going to trust your knowledge on this one, judonerd.
Zachary Kater - January 26, 2012
With a name like "judonerd" I am unlikely to try and argue against them
ihateemo - January 26, 2012
Getting gold doesn't mean you're going to be sucessful at MMA
just look at Satoshi Ishii, judo gold medalist from Japan, what has he done lately? Got over handed by Fedor. Course, that fight was all sorts of odd since Iishi fights at LHW and what not.
squaresphere - January 26, 2012
A fighter who rose to prominence in Pride feasting on undersized, inexperienced athletes from other, more limited combat sports?
No wai
WheelieMonkey - January 26, 2012
yeah, like that little twerp ShrimpNog from the limited BJJ combat sport
Skoobs - January 26, 2012
...no?
How many times has Rodrigo won a black belt division in jiu-jitsu? He’s better in MMA than he is in straight grappling, and he’s far from what I’m talking about anyway.
Remember that time Wanderlei fought a guy making his MMA debut? Or both times Fedor has fought middleweights? It simply isn’t “odd” at all.
WheelieMonkey - January 26, 2012
Or Pawel Nastula.
Granted, he was matched against absurdly better fighters, but the point stands. Olympic gold medal in judo =/= instant MMA greatness.
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
she's not a hack....
but until she fights a decent fighter who has decent wrestling or striking she certainly isn’t anything spectacular in the MMA world. have said that…..HOT!
F'n Clownshoes - January 26, 2012
Well, how convenient
She’s fighting Miesha Tate very soon!
ihateemo - January 26, 2012
All her fights?
At the time of this interview, she was 3-0. Technically you are correct, but that is a ridiculous statement to make.
Not to mention amateur Judo is nothing like Pro MMA. But keep on believing it to be true.
nicey - January 26, 2012
she really needs to learn to take baby steps in trash talk.
hope tate makes her humble old country way
elmojo - January 26, 2012
what the hell?
This isn’t news, you guys posted this video like 4 or 5 months ago whenever it first popped up.

i say do your thing ronda get that paper

The subtext being
that Rhonda feels GSP is ducking her.

How could anyone watch the GSP-Koscheck fight and not be blown away by that jabbing clinic?
Llewdor - January 26, 2012
For real
The Fox influx is going to hatch a whole new batch of Just Bleeds
Skoobs - January 26, 2012
agreed
What I always say, if GSP is so damn boring just jabbing all the time, why doesn’t someone do something about it?
Oh wait… they cant because they are not good enough.
If he can put on a clinic like that, how can anyone say anything about him.
These just bleed types need to go
Clay Davis - January 26, 2012
That's because no-one shows up to bring the fight to him
Do you think that Jake Shields tried to beat GSP? Do you think Koscheck tried to beat GSP the second time?
discoandherpes - January 26, 2012
Honestly, I liked her when she first showed up, but I’m liking her less the more she talks. She just seems like she’d be annoying in person. Idk.
thirdparty - January 26, 2012
clearly we have different taste in women.
Corrupted - January 26, 2012
This is probably true, everybody’s different.
I don’t mean I want a delicate flower type, but Rousey just seems disrespectful to everyone. Like I said, I liked her when she first started. She’s pretty (for a WMMA fighter). I know she’s doing it to hype her way into a title fight (and kudos), but it just rubs me the wrong way. Nothing she says is particularly clever that I’ve seen. Just seems a little arrogant. But that’s only my opinion, if she does it for you, cool.
thirdparty - January 27, 2012
She reminds me of most girls I know who play guitar
Always always always have this chip on their shoulder. You just want to sit them down and tell em to relax
Shaun32887 - January 26, 2012
Interesting. I don’t know any girls who play guitar, so I don’t have any experience with that, but kind of funny.
And she definitely seems to have a large chip on her shoulder.
thirdparty - January 27, 2012
The only reason anybody even remotely gives a crap about Rousey and WMMA
is because of guys like GSP who appeal to fans outside of the hardcore base, who helped push MMA closer to the mainstream. A little respect please.
pud333 - January 26, 2012
Yep!Agree with that!
Plus, finishing fight is only one aspect of the “game”.And saying that GSP is a “points fighter” is insane.
I’m a huge fan of his,but I’d love to see him finish more fight too!I’m a MMA fan first and foremost!
But his total domination over his opponent (all top 10 fighters in the world, except maybe Hardy,at the moment of their fight!) is what impress me the most.
I understand what shes trying to do.She want to put herself out there and “trash-talk” herself into big fights (which seem to be working!!!),but disrespecting a well respected champ as GSP like she did was…kind of immature.
Diaz and her are a good comparison…
Well,I’m a little disappointed in her…Danm…In one interview, she talked abt her Olympic bronze more than Cormier ever did (even if it was a 4th place!).
Oh well…
pklMMA - January 26, 2012
I love how the other dudes are trying so hard to not agree.
6:06 the guy agree’s and looks down in disappointment The only people that can talk shit about GSP are people on the internet and chicks.

Coeman - January 26, 2012
Really? Put a dildo in it?
I know I’m not over at Jezebel but that was pretty offensive. As much as I wholeheartedly disagree with her statement, that’s pretty crass. So women who don’t feel the GSP love must be hungering for a dick?
Bar Belle - January 26, 2012
I wonder how many nick diaz fan would have nice thing to say about gsp, I wonder! xD
Rampage01 - January 26, 2012
nowadays is too easy to hate on gsp, It's just too easy. so get over it ronda.
Rampage01 - January 26, 2012
This makes me more of a Rousey fan.
LBo - January 26, 2012
Like they said;"Haters will be..."
Cuz,even tho you’re not a GSP fan(a “hater” I presume),I really wonder what make you say “This makes me more of a Rousey fan”.
Did I missed a good point? (or…just a point?Did I missed one?)
pklMMA - January 26, 2012
This interview is pretty old. Saw this a few months ago. Her dislike of GSP is so far the only thing I don’t like about her.
kick_puncher - January 26, 2012
Yeah, as soon as I saw the still I was thinking isn’t this months old. Oh well, some days you just got to post something. :)
Empty Thoughts - January 26, 2012

Cmon now, if the only people allowed to criticize fighters on BE were people with official wins in fighting, BE’s comment sections would be dusty ghost towns.
The whole internet would be a cold desolate shell of a corpse with the bar that high. Is that what you want?!
Sadist.
Jabroni - January 26, 2012
That would be heaven on earth
WheelieMonkey - January 26, 2012
Hahah, sure let’s return to the days of America Online, phone modems, and Yahoo categories – when chat rooms weren’t just places to get baited by Chris Hansen and To Catch a Predator.

WheelieMonkey - January 27, 2012
Yeah,
something tells me that the people defending GSP aren’t the ones criticizing him. I don’t know, just a sneaking suspicion of mine.
ElliotMatheny - January 27, 2012
Get Cyborg'd
Broseidon - January 26, 2012
A little talk then "BEEP BEEP BEEP!"
>>_<<
FFS can’t they do interviews somewhere less annoying.
eyeIess - January 26, 2012
I’m wondering if she’s taken a leaf out of Chael Sonnen’s "Self Marketing 101″ book? If Rhonda just got on with fighting and kept her mouth shut, she would be at the back of a long line of people lining up to fight Tate for the belt.
Because she makes a few outlandish comments, now she’s the No. 1 contender and the media are having a field day over her.
I think Rhonda is very talented (Judo wise), but she still has to improve her striking.
http://www.katana-clothing.com/
@KatanaClothing - January 26, 2012
She is right.
GSP should just walk around the ring and try to armbar everyone instead.
younggunzvt - January 26, 2012
there is no “try” about it. . .so far
cletusvandam - January 26, 2012
You must "try" in order to "do"
younggunzvt - January 26, 2012
i can think of several instances where this is absolutely untrue.
Corrupted - January 26, 2012
So you can do something without attempting to do it?
Outside of happenstance and accidents of course. I would think the only way to do and armbar without attempting to do an armbar would be to accidentally do an armbar.
younggunzvt - January 26, 2012
I am 100% sure the baby didn't intend to do this
The Lethal Haze - January 26, 2012

The Lethal Haze - January 26, 2012
Watch GSP v Hughes 2 last night on Fuel
Fuel is fucking awesome btw. But I have a feeling we will see the old, more aggressive GSP when he comes back. He hears what people are saying and wants to prove he’s more than a point fighter. I think he will, at least, try. He tried to finish Shields (which was the worst GSP fight ever).
warren305 - January 26, 2012
Ronda Rousey is trying to make me love her
And it’s working. If she ever talks down about Anderson Silva, though, it’s over.
deathbydegrees20 - January 26, 2012
All I can think about after watching this is...
…if I gave her a playful slap would she tickle fight me too.
NickRingp4pGOAT - January 26, 2012
doubt a girl like her could tickle fight without pummelling for underhooks

Victor Rodriguez - January 26, 2012
Considering the fighters in Womens MMA and how most really don’t show that much charisma, I think that Rousey is a breath of fresh air. Gina Carano is pretty much gone from MMA, and there was that Cyborg debacle, so Rousey really is that only female MMA fighter out there that’s getting attention, and in turn, gets attention to Womens MMA. I think it’s short-sighted of those MMA fans who are saying that Rousey should shut up and whatnot.
chrisbboy82 - January 26, 2012
She gets half a bronze medal and beats some scrubs in MMA
And all of a sudden she has the balls to talk shit about a legend like GSP? Give me a break.
