Today, the 2012 kickboxing season gets underway with a stacked card from It's Showtime, headlined by the retirement fight of Badr Hari as he faces Gokhan Saki. Join us here at Bloody Elbow this afternoon to discuss the show as it goes down. Here's how to watch:
HDNet - For fans with HDNet, the show airs live today starting at 3:00 p.m. ET / 12:00 p.m. PT. Note that HDNet is only showing the main card today. The prelims (which includes Tyrone Spong vs. Melvin Manhoef) will air on February 3.
Fight Network - Fans in Canada can see the entire card live on Fight Network, starting at 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. PT.
Online - It's Showtime will be streaming the entire card at www.showtimefights.com. Again, this starts at 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. PT. The stream costs 10 Euro, or about $13 US.
As I said above, the big feature bout is the retirement from kickboxing of Badr Hari, which we covered earlier this week. He takes on the tough Gokhan Saki in what is the best Heavyweight fight kickboxing has seen since the 2010 K-1 Grand Prix.
Other highlights of the main card include Hesdy Gerges vs. Daniel Ghita, Murat Direkci vs. Robin van Roosmalen, and Errol Zimmerman vs. Rico Verhoeven. The undercard is also loaded, with Tyrone Spong vs. Melvin Manhoef, and L'houcine Ouzgni vs. Yohan Lidon as the highlights. Check out the full card here.
Hope you will be watching, and joining the conversation here at Bloody Elbow.

such a fantastic card.
sponge on the undercard says it all. i love saki, he’s by far my favorite kickboxer. i think he beats overeem in the grand prix had it not been for the broken arm.
lukustra - January 28, 2012 via mobile
Saki is the best kickoboxer right now
Albeit not his fault, Ubberroid had broken men served to him on a dish in the grand prix
MostDiabolicalCasanova - January 28, 2012
It tells you exactly how good this card is when Sprong is on the undercard!!
This should be an amazing night of kickboxing action.
@KatanaClothing - January 28, 2012
I'll probably be around to remind everybody how little they know about everything.
Yes.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
Anybody streamed it's showtime before?
I"m considering ordering and before dropping the euros I’d like to know about the quality.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
The actual quality of the video is great most of the time.
There are some issues now and then with buffering – some events, you’ll encounter it, while others you won’t. I would expect this event to be fine, given how important it is for the company.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
I just payed for the stream and got a code sent in e-mail, so that works so far at least. 10 euros for all this greatness is an offer I couldn’t refuse. Should be a good one!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Has it started yet?
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I'm gettinga multicolor screen and some strange world music.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
I only hear music so far.. and a test screen image
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
same here.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Now it shows a countdown!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I see it too.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Man, I love it's showtime but they always have some damn shitty music.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Haha.. I like it. Feels very dutch. (the intro + dancing)
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I don't mind it. feels like part of the experience to me.
definitely very dutch.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
nice high kick
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
10-9 blue corner
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
19-19
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
29-27 Habib
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
HINATA!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Short on cash, so Im relying on you guys for play by play until the maincard starts lol
ProfessorBLove - January 28, 2012
What an explosive performance!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Pretty impressive.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Aight boys, I’m here, but I have to go eat in ten, then I’ll be back.. Well shit, all day, this runs into UFC prelims. Good to be here.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Before she left, my girlfriend asked me to clean the bathroom.
Ain’t happening.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Definitely fair.
With a card like this, with guys like Manhoef and Ghita on prelims, I wouldn’t move unless I absolutely have to.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Just checked the card.
Why did I think it was Manhoef/Ghita, it’s Manhoef/Spong. Either way, the argument stands.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
hahahahahaha
My girlfriend was up all night working, she asked me to wake her up when I got home. Shes still sleep.
ProfessorBLove - January 28, 2012
Just play the fights extra loud, maybe she’ll wake up.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
lol im wearing headphones and tip toeing around the apt.
ProfessorBLove - January 28, 2012
Hahha love it.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
For real
I was seriously considering bringing a piss jug to the couch. I’m digging in for the long haul.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Hahahaha brutal.
Kent, I’m not trying to be an elitist or asshole or anything, but are you a lurker usually? You already seem like you have legit combat sports knowledge, but I don’t remember ever seeing your name?
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yup
I read BE multiple times a day, but only log in once a month or so.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Cool man.
You should comment more often dude, I lurked for like.. Two years before I started commenting, and it’s frickin awesome when you comment a lot.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Amen!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Yeah, I've been visiting for about three years, now.
I find it tough to login during the fights, though, as I’m usually entertaining a fair amount of people. I can do it today, because it’s pretty tough to find people who want to watch a European kickboxing card.
That being said, Badhr Hari — Lets mutherfuckers!
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
What's this fucking referee doing?
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Hello ladies
Breaking my kickboxing cherry tonight
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
Better late than never! You chose a good event definitely.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
actually scratch that. Watched K1 Grand Prix the day after last year but this is my first live event. I get the feeling from the commentary its been a classic so far
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
It's been pretty good so far.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Well, not as much as the commentators want you to believe, heh. Definitely good fights though
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
They're definitely a bit over excited. Still good though.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Yep yep
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Definitely a great card to start.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Anyone giving Melvin a shot at winning this?
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Not really.. he’s always dangerous of course, but I think his chin is shot, plus he’ll face the usual height and reach disadvantage. And Spong is really techically skilled of course
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I agree with that assessment. Still should be a fun fight.
And I really wanna see Spong make the move to mma.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
I'm a huge Melvin fan but I got Tyrone in this one.
I’d like Melvin to take it but I don’t think he does.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Looks like Ben Edwards and Tim Sylvia share the same dietician.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
He reminds me of Mark Hunt
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Maybe Ben will attempt a kimura and I'll lose my mind cheering in the process, as well.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
fat guys gassing?
Boy we are spoiled
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
That last knee was comically slow.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
struggling to literally lift your knee. LAWL
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
Anyone else not receive a code after paying?
I expected it to be more or less an instant thing, still haven’t been sent one.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
I got mine within seconds of paying.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
I got it right away.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Awesome :(
lolumad - January 28, 2012
WAR Yohann!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
I like the name “Yohan Lidon”. It’s just funny to say
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Hahaha seriously?
It’s a quite usual name here.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Well, most things are pleasant to say in french, very nice language that way. Plus the name Johan is quite common here, but is pronounced way different, so that contributes
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I thought they were saying ‘le dong’
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
how come this is on the undercard
If its for a title?
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
Because the card is STACKED!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
So Exciting!
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
This.
They’re also not huge draws. even Spong Manhoef is on the undercard.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
what way do the divisions work? Is it just 70kg max, 90kg max and HW?
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
Nor sure about all but the way I remember:
70kg
73kg
77kg
85kg
95kg
HW
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_It%27s_Showtime_champions
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Wasn't sure about 61 and 65 kg.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
They're among the lesser divisions in It's Showtime...
Not necessarily in quality, but in available fights and promotional effort.
That said, It’s Showtime really needs to drop the kilogram measurements and assume more regular division names. Taking cues from professional boxing would, in that instance be a great idea – 61 is basically lightweight, 70 being super welterweight, etc.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
They also are roughly equivalent to MMA weight divisions.
61 bantamweight
65 featherweight
70 lightweight
73
77 welterweight
85 middleweight
95 lightheavyweight
Heavyweight
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Fuck!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Man, Lidon looks out of it
magnetic - January 28, 2012
He had trouble making weight apparently.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Surprised he wasn't stripped of the belt
What champion misses weight?
magnetic - January 28, 2012
Antonio McKee did last night.
Ricardo Arguello - January 28, 2012
He made weight eventually.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
WAR SPONG!
Also, the squeaky color commentator is getting pretty obnoxious.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
This is going to be crazy!
magnetic - January 28, 2012
Melvin looks pumped
magnetic - January 28, 2012
When doesn't he?
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Off topic, but all Lorenzo's personal info was just leaked.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
ugh
UFC just isn’t winning this fight
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
I saw Dana’s birth certificate earlier today
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Dana done goofed.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
I (somewhat) understand why they went afer Dana...
but why Mayhem?
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Holy shit UFC.
Quit fighting them, you’ll lose every friggin time guys.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
probably fake, like Dana's details were not real
higgledy-piggledy - January 28, 2012
Aight, I’m back guys.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
just in time!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
That's exactly what I was thinking as soon as I saw Manhoef.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
WAR MELVIN!
WAR short guys!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Agreed!
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
^This!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
It’s really too bad Manhoef has such a glass jaw, he’s awesome.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
Dude is just badass!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Spong looks like more of a mass murderer than I remember.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Spong has put on more muscle
He doesn’t appear to be carrying as much fat as he did against Overeem.
magnetic - January 28, 2012
Exactly what I was thinking.
Looks bigger and leaner.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
You guys ever see that video of Melvin's kid kicking ass?
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Nah, link it when you have a chance.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZixNEJ0jos&feature=player_embedded#!
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
He beats up other little children too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmA8tcjKcQM
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
Nobody's jacking his lunch money.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Thanks, I'll watch it after this.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Anyone know what these two weighed in at?
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Spong was 103.3 kg (about 228 pounds). Manhoef, oddly enough, did not weigh in. Because there’s not a upper limit at HW, it’s not required to weigh in at all, so he didn’t. Weird. Badr didn’t either. Perhaps it’s some strategic move from Mike’s Gym guys?
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
Okay, I was mostly wondering how big the weight difference was, Spong seems so much bigger than Melvin.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
I’d give it to Spong. Melvin won’t win if he won’t open up more. He won’t win from outside, and he’s mostly been fighting from the outside.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
He's taking shots better than I expected
Manhoef has remained pretty composed throughout this fight.
magnetic - January 28, 2012
wtf is this commentator talking about?
Our Bovine Public - January 28, 2012
Nice fight, should be an easy decision for Spong.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yeah, would have liked to see Melvin a bit more aggressive though
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Definitely agreed.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yeah, 30-27 Spong pretty easily.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Good fight, but not the barn-burner I had hoped for from these two. Oh well.
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
I definitely expected fireworks.
It was a nice match, but not the type of match I expected.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Wasn't really surprised, I love him but the wars took a toll on Melvin. He still fought well being so outsized by Spong.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
That's ok
Melvin fought really well and took some hard shots from Spong.
magnetic - January 28, 2012
Aerts is the man.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
Definitely, it's been great watching him.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
It’s amazing he’s still competing at such a high level.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
Incredible. I wasn't born when he had his first fight.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Yep, it’s sort of hard to fathom how long he’s been a top 10 Heavyweight. I mean, it’s the equivalent of Royce Gracie having competed for a UFC belt every single year since UFC 1. That’s insane.
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
Same.
He’s absolutely incredible.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
You wonder about his health though.
Aerts has been in so many wars.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
Definitely. I'm glad he's retiring for health's sake, but he'll be missed.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Aerts vs. Spong? Fantastic. That will be great.
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
What the hell is he talking about? Anyone?
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
For some reason, I just thought of Andy Hug. Anyone else miss him like crazy? He was absolutely incredible.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yup, with Peter Aerts retiring it's finally the end of an era
magnetic - January 28, 2012
It feels like Schilt is part of that era to me.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
No way.. Aerts and Hug started out in K-1 mid nineties
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I know.
That’s why I said that’s how it feels. I just always have connected Schilt to Aerts and Aerts to Hug, don’t know why.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Okay, gotcha. I’ve been re-watching all the first K-1 WGP’s lately so I don’t connect Schilt with them yet
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Fair enough.
I haven’t seen the older ones, save for Hug’s fights. I just saw a HL of him a few years ago and fell in love with his style.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
A great man, definitely
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Man I miss Andy bad... I started my stand up training with Kyokushin karate so I've always been a big fan of his.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Hug is my favorite K-1 fighter of all time. His 1996 GP run is a thing of beauty.
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
And I know he's not retired yet but he's pretty much semi retired and getting into acting now, but I already miss Jérome Le Banner.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
So stoked to join you guys at 3!
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
As you should be mountaineers.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Saki vs. Hari is going to be ridiculous, as well as Gerges vs. Ghita.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
I might skip the card up until then.
I have a shit ton of reading that I have to write a paper on for Monday.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Did that montage of Hari's career set to Frank Sinatra make anyone else sad?
Have to admit, I welled up a bit when they showed him stomping Remy.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Sinatra could make a field of butterflies seem sad
Although, I admit, I love when a brutal sport is synced up with forlorn music (someone needs to make a Chuck Liddell montage set to Cohen’s A Singer Must Die).
Erasedhead - January 28, 2012
Agreed about the sport/music.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
For hockey fans
there’s a sweet Scott Stevens montage set to Pyramid Head (probably the only Radiohead I like). Bonecrushing hits and soft music just fits.
Whenever people tell me MMA is too brutal, I remind them the number of serious injuries in hockey:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbWDTvuLBzI
Erasedhead - January 28, 2012
Definitely a hockey fan, I'll check it later.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
I'm a big fan of Akiyama's entrance to Andrea Bocelli.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Akiyama classes up the joint everywhere he goes
I just imagine him walking into a bordello and kneeling at the door while that songs plays.
Erasedhead - January 28, 2012
Absolutely.
He usually uses time to say goodbye, right?
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yup.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
How hilarious and bittersweet
would it be for Hari to get KTFO? It seems like he’s trying to set up a ride-into-the-sunset image of himself, prodigal kickboxer, leaving the sport behind. If he swallows a whooping, it’ll seem more like he took a beating and then moved onto boxing (a strange move given his major strength seems to be knees, clinchwork and highkicks).
A great card. I haven’t seen a lot of those guys fight, but I’m psyched for the two main fights.
Erasedhead - January 28, 2012
BADR HARI IS A BAAAAAD BOY!
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Badr Badr Badr
Badr Badr Badr
Badr Badr Hari
Is a Bad Boy
Erasedhead - January 28, 2012
THIS IS THE BEST SONG!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjUlUPUqFsY
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Oh, yeah
That’s the stuff.
How long before Sonnen hires some doofus rapper to write him a ‘Undisputed man of steel’ intro song?
Erasedhead - January 28, 2012
fuck. My internet connection is crashing. I’m going to pop a blood vessel.
dancingChicken - January 28, 2012
Stay calm.
Mine crashed right before JDS threw the overhand that won him the HW strap.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
mine crashed 20 seconds into Fedor-Werdum
Cunny - January 28, 2012
Shiiiiiiit.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Going with Ghita, Zimmerman, Saki, and van Roosmalen.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Ghita, Zimmerman, van Roosmalen, and HARIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
If Saki fights a patient fight, definitely favors him. But if it turns into a brawl, of course you go with Hari.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Hari might be my favorite combat sports athlete.
He’s going to win. K? And then he’s going to go KO the Klitschko brothers at the same time.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
People will flame me for this...
But I wish the UFC would adopt some of this pomp.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
I don't mean the shitty KOL remix.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Pfff.
I agree the whole way.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
probably will in time
give them some more time with fox
Cunny - January 28, 2012
It'd give my girlfriend something to watch. She likes loud noises and sparkling things.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
then you need to play death metal and light roman candles when these events come on
it’ll work
helps if you get her drunk first
Cunny - January 28, 2012
Yeah, I’m not a fan at all of the UFC’s “run through the crowd almost getting mobbed” style entrance. Needs more flair and class
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
A little pyro would go a long way.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
I liked SF.
Not too over the top, but a little flair and pizazz.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Did I hear a hubba hubba hubba? I fucking love today.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
the announcer, you mean?
wtf this just happened on my stream
wayyy behind
Cunny - January 28, 2012
Yeah, maybe I have an awesome stream. First fight is starting… Now.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
just started for me
Cunny - January 28, 2012
Wow, I have two minutes on you.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
must you rub it in
meanie
Cunny - January 28, 2012
I must.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
LOOKIT MANS TUXEDO JACKET!
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
damn, its like they try to make ilegal streaming difficult or something...
all of the link i follow take me to some eastern euro chanel showing a subtitled derard butler film.
Nesbitt - January 28, 2012
Anderson Silva-esque is Anderson Silva in his Anderson Silva-like striking, huh Joe?
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Heavyweight kickboxers are super doughy.
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Reminiscent of Mike Russow are the heavyweight kickboxers, Cabbage.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
WHOOAA
Rutager - January 28, 2012
Where’s Tan Dan to murder these guys?
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
YES! THAT JUST HAPPENED!
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Holy shit!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
These guys are assholes.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
10-9 Silva last round btw.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Ok, it's barely past noon on the west coast but there are live fights on.
Beers are ok still, right?
pdl - January 28, 2012
You're pdl, do you have to ask?
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Shit
Did I jump the gun on the Vodka?
Rutager - January 28, 2012
Was it in an energy drink or some orange juice?
Because that’s fair game.
pdl - January 28, 2012
Doesn't matter.
Straight vodka tastes like shit anyways.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Vodka-Red Bull
So guess I’m good then.
Rutager - January 28, 2012
Add a splash of triple sec next time.
pdl - January 28, 2012
How did Silva lose to that Bouzidi guy that fought earlier?
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Uh, ref, you might want to, I don’t know, do something about guys throwing punches after the bell? Just saying.
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
He was still rocked!
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Easy round for Silva, 20-17 for the knockdown.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Same.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
kickboxing is scored differently than boxing/mma
it’ll be scored something like 2-0 or some shit.
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Meh.
Anyways, if it goes to a decision, Silva already won.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Eh? It’s totally on the 10 point system.
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
Really? I've seen It's Showtime where they've scored the fights 3-0.
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
They scored the Lidon fight on the 10 points tonight.
But they sometimes just announce the number of judges foreach fighter.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Yeah, that means 3 judges gave it to the winner. They tend to not tell you the actual judge scorecards in It’s Showtime.
Fraser Coffeen - January 28, 2012
Coffee shops and windows!
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Ken Shamrock head kick attempt!
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Is there a 3 knockdown rule?
Rutager - January 28, 2012
i was wondering this
silva didnt really go for the kill after the second kd in rd 2
Cunny - January 28, 2012
I don't watch kickboxing that often.
So I’m not up on all the rules and whatnot.
Rutager - January 28, 2012
it often does have that rule
but dunno about this event
Cunny - January 28, 2012
Depends of the organization. I think It's showtime has one but I'm not positive.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Easy win for Silva.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yeah, he looked real good.
Glad he gave that punk a beating, too. I hate sucker punchers.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Note to self
Everyone named Anderson Silva can fight.
fightersvizion - January 28, 2012 via mobile
And just like that, my first son has his name.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
THATS NAMISM!!!!
GreyedOut - January 28, 2012
Yeah but combining names doesn't work that much:
http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Wanderson-Silva-13585
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Funny, he looks like a Nog
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
KENNY RICE IS A LIAR!!!!
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Mini Badr?
lolumad - January 28, 2012
This is a big problem. I still have to go to the Beer Store, but can't leave the TV .
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Is there going to be time between Hari/Saki and UFC prelims?
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Do you care about Chris Camozzi?
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
He's horrible.
I should skip that and get some food.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
I think the prelims start at 4:30.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
No
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Dayumm.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
I lucked out and fixed food during the intermission after Manhoef – Spong. So I am well fed now
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
That's smart.
I still have to grill up a steak and make some KD cause I’m all out of normal pasta.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
I wish pizza places would deliver beer
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Booze delivery.
Thats a million dollar idea my friend.
Rutager - January 28, 2012
I'd like to patent it.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
That shit is expensive. I don't make GSP money. I make Tim Hague money.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Great walkout song, hahaha.
Rutager - January 28, 2012
Nice card !!!
Nice card!!! like im used of it,s showtime ….
Its a shame almost every city is banning the events overe here in holland
This wil probally be the last one on dutch soil..
Spong vs Manhoef was a nice fight it looks like spong is becoming more and more like his mentor mr.perfect hoost …Nice combination,s lowkick liverShot teep Punch ..
Knee lowkick teep Punch Priceless.(lol)
manhoef lookt alright to its seems like at the end of his carreer he got smarter
because he is fighting with a better defence and a better game-plan cus he was calm patient and powerfull…but spong did more and so Deserved this win ..
more combinations more of everything …
Boy o boy i cant wait for zimmerman saki badr and hesdey
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
WHY DOES SUPERMAN GOTTA BE BLACK! DOES HE TRAIN WITH THE BLACKZILLIANS! SO DUMB. UGH. RACISM.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
This is delicious.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
Liking this fight already.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Grigoryan is whoopin that ass
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
This isn't for Ngimbi's title?
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Yeah apparently not. I was surprised by that as well
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
That's why I hate non- title fights for champions.
If they’re worth fighting, it’s worth putting up the belt.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Holy shit Nigimbi is getting his ass punched to shitt ..
He needs to step it up now
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
Ngimbi is getting Diaz'd
lolumad - January 28, 2012
Good performance by Gregoryan!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Grigorian
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
He looked great!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Nice boxing display from Grigoryan.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
*Kickboxing display
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
I was impressed by his hands. I know what I’m watching, Elliot! Haha.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
His punches were his main tool,
but Harut was throwing knees and low kicks as well. Use whatever terminology you want, but I think it’s more concise not to use the term “boxing” in a kickboxing, Muay Thai, or MMA context.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Oh I hope Zimmermann gets a ass whoopin
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
shit man they should not have stopt the chris fight it seemt like he was stepping his game up … but a cut is a cut ..
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
The cut looked pretty bad and he was getting pretty much handled.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
I just changed my pick from JOE to Russow. Thoughts?
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Correct.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Funny, I just changed mine from Russow to JOE.
I think Russow is tremendously overrated. JOE is too long standing, and if he takes JOE down, he’ll get tapped.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yeah, hmm. I hate Russow, but fuck..
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Tight fight either way, though. It really could go either way.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Yeah, really tough one to pick.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I have Russow, not that confident about it. This fight istight.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
WARRRRRRR Rico!
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
@BASVanDERWOLK
Zimmerman is gonna CRUSH Verhoefen
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
Pass me the salt and pepper, my crow tastes awful
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
(lol) At least thats what i hope hahahahah
But rico is a smart fighter …
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
Yeah I’m going with Zimmerman in this one. He’s been looking good lately
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
@horselover
Yes its seems like he is taking everything a little more serouis now …
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
We were right! Also, try the reply button :) so you won’t have to write out our screen names.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
shit sorry hahah my mistake ..
And yes we where right haha did not espect it so fast do
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
No problem!
Yeah, me neither. But they do have that massive power of course
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Oof.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Holy shit! that was brutal!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
That's what I'm paying to see.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Alright, alright, alriiiiiiiiiiiyyyight!!
Rutager - January 28, 2012
Mutherfukker….
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Wow, Zimmerman dominated
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Hesdy and then BADR HARI!
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Nevermind...forgot about Van Rousmalen
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Zimmerman is packing HEAT!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Masato is kind of an awkward commentator
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
I’m sorry dude, but who the fuck is Art Mann?
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
That's what I want to know.
Everyone seems so happy to see him.
Rutager - January 28, 2012
He used to be the host of Wild On.
The show that traveled around to all the various locales in the world where girls with low self esteem congregated to get drunk and show their breasts off.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Never saw that.
Rutager - January 28, 2012
It was a staple in my Friday night television viewing schedule when I was 13.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Haha (lol) zimmerman at the end Je moet geen kind sturen om een man ze werk te doen !!! TRANSLATION DONT SEND A KID TO DO A MAN,S JOB
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
If Rico’s a kid then Zimmerman should shut his mouth and don’t brag about whoopin’ a kid’s ass
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
maybe kid need to stop acting like a man …..
No i just translated what he said i like both fighters but Rico did not have anything to say in this fight
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
Banging entrance music!
GreyedOut - January 28, 2012
Kickboxing in Holland seems like an expensive hobby to watch.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Why do you think so?
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Well, just looking at the lower crowd. Maybe it is just one of those things you do on occasion and put on your finest clothes for it.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Yeah, it's like a dinner show
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
The (lower crowd) youe man by the lttle table,s (lol)
Thats the VIP seats hahahah
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
Those are expensive yes, VIP tables.. not a fan of that set-up
But most people are in the normal stands of course
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
It’s not that expensive, normally tickets will put you back somewhere between €25-€50 ( 30-60USD) and a couple of beers will make it somewhere around €60-100,-. Pretty reasonable when you compare it to an UFC-event.
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Roosmalen is being stifled
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
And Direcki just got stiffed, no fucking way he lost that fight.
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Yeah, I agree.
I had it as a tie. Direcki was winning the 3’rd round, until Roosmalen combo’d on him after they checked Direcki’s cut in the last minute. But I don’t think that was enough to win the round… should’ve been a tie.
I don’t think it was a complete robbery though.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Robin moved forward but Murat scored way more – it doesn’t matter that he does so backpaddlin’.
Besides that I think I saw most of Robins powerpunches land on Murat’s cover, but that might be the lousy feed that I have. Anyway, this should have been declared a draw at minimum.
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Questionable decision, not a full on robbery though.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
There’s a time for reason and there’s a time for beer-fuelled-anger, this is a time for the latter.
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Hahaha, fair enough.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
I agree, Direcki landed a better volume and controlled the action for most of the fight.
The biggest events of the fight were Roosmalen’s, though… those flurries were just so crisp and fast
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Roosmalen 10-9
19-19 overall
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Great fight!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Extra round...?
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Eh, I thought it should have been an extra round.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Agreed.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Agreed.
I was surprised Roosmalen won… I thought he tied up the 3’rd round in the last minute, but that should’ve gone to an extension round
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
I would have picked Roosmalen because of his flurries and harder shots in the third, but would have been more in favor of the extension if you pressed me.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
I acknowledge that argument's validity,
but I definitely saw the 3’rd round as a 10-10
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Great fight!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Prepare for a new heavyweight champion!
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Has Manhoef/ Spong happened on the broadcast yet?
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Yeah, was on the prelims.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
I hope I can find the vid somewhere after the Hari fight.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
It was good. It just wasn't what I was expecting.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Next Friday
Rutager - January 28, 2012
Yup.
Kent Carter - January 28, 2012
Yeah it was on the prelims.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
It was on the undercard if I’m not wrong.

Rutager - January 28, 2012
Ghita looks to be on some Overeem diet.
dancingChicken - January 28, 2012
GO Ghita!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Gerges is in a state of perpetually pissed off-ness
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
YEAH BUDDY
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
DAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNN
Rutager - January 28, 2012
WOW!
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
GO TO FUCKING SLEEP!
GreyedOut - January 28, 2012
That was awesome.
lolumad - January 28, 2012
My shit crashed right before the knockout. I fucking knew it. Fucking Honda internet.
dancingChicken - January 28, 2012
I’m a little behind but DAYUM both guys look in incredible shape. Esp. Ghita
MSEMCEE - January 28, 2012
owwwww shit that was brutal !!!!!
i was rooting for hesdey but ghita punched his lights out bammmm!!
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
Nice!! Beautiful left hook!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
BEAUTIFUL left hook.
Just so sexy.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Great left hook.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
“Hello, UPC here, you tryin to watch Gerges vs Ghita? Tryin to have a good time huh? Well we can’t have that now can we? So we’ll let your server crash just long enough so you’ll miss the KO, how about that…you bitch!”
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Very happy for Ghita! One of my favorite HW’s, great win
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Big Ghita fan as well. One of my favorites to watch.
MSEMCEE - January 28, 2012
Ghita has an UFC-legend on his side…
basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
SO PUMPED for this rematch.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Who else is pulling for Gokhan?
Turkish Fedor all day every day!
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
I love both guys. Don't care, just want a good fight.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Definitely on the Gokhan bus!
GreyedOut - January 28, 2012
Fuck that. WAR BADR!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Make room on that bandwagon for me, sir. I hope for a good fight though. Saki should win if he uses leg kicks and patience.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Telling Gokhan Saki to fight with patience
is like telling a honey badger to give a shit
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
I also love that this is going to end just on time to catch the prelims. We go from this…to Lavar Johnson vs. Joey Beltran. Such a drastic change, but still so awesome.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
You can only wish Beltran or Lavar could throw a hook half as beautiful as Ghita.
GreyedOut - January 28, 2012
I will enjoy the windmills.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
this fight can go both ways badr has a size advantge
but saki is saki and he is able to beat every one if he gets the chance
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
SIT THE FUCK DOWN!
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
TAKEDOWN!

basvanderwolk - January 28, 2012
Ouch.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
That was crazy!
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Not watching, what happened?
Tim Burke - January 28, 2012
Badr Hari did a hadouken.
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
more like Sho-ryu-ken. Those were super uppercuts
Robust23 - January 28, 2012
Hari knocked Saki down thrice in the 1'st round
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Awesome.
Tim Burke - January 28, 2012
I'm so mad at him for leaving kickboxing.
I don’t hate boxing, but kickboxing is so much better to watch IMO
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
And as much as I like Badr…he’s not going to be an elite boxer.
Tim Burke - January 28, 2012
Idk, he could be in a few years.
Dude is big and very athletic. Plus, if you saw his hands just now, you wouldn’t be so dubious. It’s just a shame, because Hari also has great kicks & knees, and won’t be able to use them in boxing.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
Or he might just decide to use them in the odd match or three.
GreyedOut - January 28, 2012
Maybe but I don't really buy it. I'd like to be wrong but boxing is a different sport.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
He’s got pretty shitty defenses when it comes to boxing. That’s my biggest concern.
Tim Burke - January 28, 2012
His defense is the problem to me too.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
He also doesn't have much of a shot at much in boxing.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
Hari TKO's Saki in the first.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
NOOOOO!!!!!
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
GreyedOut - January 28, 2012

Tats16 - January 28, 2012
By the way….Hari is not winning a boxing heavyweight title, you assclown announcer. Good lord.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
That was ridiculous.
Sweet Scientist - January 28, 2012
thank you
higgledy-piggledy - January 28, 2012
Yep no disrespect to saki but badr is just to strong for saki
those uppercuts where to mutch for saki ….
You never know with saki …But like against remy overeem and other more bigger hw he just comes to shot in size and power…
But like i said you never know ..but it was cklear badr is way more powerfull
breezer77 - January 28, 2012
Commentator needs to zip it
Even Davis Haye will blast Hari. Boxing is a different game
higgledy-piggledy - January 28, 2012
At this point, yes.
But Hari is still pretty young, and with the right trainers and upbringing, Badr could be an elite heavyweight boxer in a few years.
ElliotMatheny - January 28, 2012
he's def exciting.
It will be a journey…considering all the politics in Boxing. But I wish him the best.
THe commentator is just annoyingly hyping the man before he’s even began his journey.
higgledy-piggledy - January 28, 2012
Good event, well worth the price. Happy to see Ghita and Hari win, but also sad to see Badr go away.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Now THAT was a show!
Craziest kickboxing card we’ve had since the 2010 K-1 GP.
magnetic - January 28, 2012
Yeah, it really was a solid lineup.
It’s Showtime is really taking the reigns as the top dog in kickboxing.
