The Over/Under for actual fight time was WELL over my line of 45
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
Yeah it was. I’m not shocked, though. Not by any means.
Matt Bishop - January 28, 2012
Seriously
Snoozefest. Not a single main card fight was even slightly entertaining
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
I thought Sonnen/Bisping was, but of the other two, one was flat-out boring and the other a mismatch.
Matt Bishop - January 28, 2012
Beltran lost, brian's gonna be crushed if he's on....
UK MMA MAN - January 28, 2012
I gotta be honest
This show wasn’t good at all to attract more fans.
Weidman and Maia were sloppy and gassed, Chael looked horrible in the first two rounds and still ended up 30-27 on at least one judges card, and the last fight was the best of the main card but still would not appeal to the casual observer.
Sexytime - January 28, 2012
I agree. Grapple / clinch fest. No exactly great for getting new fans hooked. Question for the show, was it a mistake by the UFC to book so grapple-heavy fights for their first proper FOX card?
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Sonnen-Munoz would have been different
Bisping probably would have finished Maia. Shit happens man.
Joben - January 28, 2012
I think the original match ups would have been more exciting.
We would have seen Maia try out his striking with Bisping and get outstruck, maybe even finish, and I think Munoz would have put Chael out with big punches if Bisping was able to control him
Sexytime - January 28, 2012
i think silva will make quick work of sonnen this time, sonnen striking is way to wild.
Rampage01 - January 28, 2012
Wait…who is going to be on tonight? Since Hemmi is here.

First calf cutter in UFC history?
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
Second calf cutter
First succesful calf cutter

I thought Swanson's KO was better
The way Roop’s mouthpiece came out was like a video game.

Joben - January 28, 2012
They were getting 55 or 45k for FX show weren't they?
UK MMA MAN - January 28, 2012
its pretty standard over all cards
Joben - January 28, 2012
The UFC really needs to fix their free tv model. These fights are horrible
Jace_San - January 28, 2012
LOL
Joben - January 28, 2012

IRodC - January 28, 2012
Roth, you my good man, are trashed. How delicious is that hot pocket?
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
so good
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Good to hear buddy.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
To me, Maia vs. Weidman lasted longer than Evans vs. Davis. That fight was eternal
IRodC - January 28, 2012
Would it have been better if Rashad/Davis was a 3 round right?
I think Evans would have looked better
Joben - January 28, 2012
I'm eager to see the ratings for this show, especially by the end of the night.
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
I thought the 1st show was great because it left fans wanting more and had them curious.
The 2nd show answered those people’s curiosities with the worst possible answers: Clinching, Grappling, and Gassing.
Sexytime - January 28, 2012
SWEATY GUYS HUGGING FTW!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
UFC needs to showcase lighter weight fighers, the fights are almost always better, more action packed, less sloppy etc… I’d make Nate Diaz and Frankie Edgar mainstays on my UFC cards
Jace_San - January 28, 2012
Now, I didn’t think the fights were all that bad. I’ve seen a lot worse. The late second/third round of Weidman-Maia was horrid. Bisping-Sonnen was a good bout and back and forth for those who understand the styles of the two. Davis-Evans was a one-sided stifling that Archie Bunker would have been proud of. But casual fans will poop all over this. The people who were introduced to this through this card might not ever come back.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Alright, regarding the BECW results
I’ve got the results ready to copy-paste into a comment. I’ll do a complete recap tomorrow but should I reveal the results here or keep you guessing until tomorrow?

crazedfan - January 28, 2012
60 points separated team no. 1 and no. 10
Everyone had a terrible event. Still some slightly surprising results.

T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
yea.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
SHIT!
That’s friggin AWESOME!
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
We're closing in on you spammy.
I mean, you guys are still comfortably first, but it’s looking like a three horse race between INEPT, Cecil People’s Champs, and the Bus Feeders.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
How are you closing on us
When we finished ahead of you this event?
wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
Standings wise.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
Well, INEPT is #1 on the list, they have 464 points. But yet Reccing machines is #4 on the list with 465 points
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
What?
You’re not making any sense. The score in parentheses is the event score. Reccing Machines are in first place in the first table because they scored the most points for this event, but they only have 2206 overall.
wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
OHHH
WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE MADE THAT CLEAR THEN
My mistake, sorry man!
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
I guess what I’m saying is the overall positions table isn’t sorted after overall scores
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Damn.
dribblebib - January 28, 2012
Ron Simmons?
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
And it looks like you got the ranking order of the overall scores way wrong if the totals are right
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
What?
I am drunk and stoned but I don’t see what’s wrong …
wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
I see nothing wrong
I’m blackout drunk but the numbers look in line. The only mistake I see is that you didn’t count Subbevil’s points
Joben - January 28, 2012
Well, INEPT is #1 on the list, they have 464 points. But yet Reccing machines is #4 on the list with 465 points
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
(see reply above)
wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
The Filipino Reccing Machines #1?
With a guy who probably posted a zero score AGAIN.
-Neil- - January 28, 2012
Impressive score
And please, tell Luke Thomas’ Beard to stop whining about only being 10. It sucks and they would surely have a higher score if there were 11 of them, but the 10 remaining guys on that team have themselves to blame as well as much as Subbevil.
wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
Well we will never know because we don't get special treatment
like the other teams.
Joben - January 28, 2012
Sure you will
If Subbevil had posted average scores (which is more than you can expect from a last round pick), you would have barely been in 8th place. If he’d been above average you still wouldn’t have cracked the top 7.
wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
Why do you assume he would be average?
Isn’t the juggalo tearing shit up? And 7th place is better than last place. So you make no points at all.
Joben - January 28, 2012
I assume he would be average
Because after 4 events, out of the 9 last round picks that aren’t named Subbevil, two guys are <1 and 3 points above average while SethSmiley is 38 points above average and 6 guys are below average (79, 9, 72, 25, 67, 38 points respectively).
Some of you have said that it’s a shame you got a non-picker because that means you were fucked out of having any chance of doing something. I’m saying that if Subbevil performed as his draft pick suggested, you would at the very best be 8th, more likely 10th.
wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
Get out of here with statistics
I’m only talking about fake hypotheticals that I make up in my mind

So really guys, how bad was that Sonnen decision, and who else loves it? :D
Sexytime - January 28, 2012
Is Roth hitting on Forrest?
IRodC - January 28, 2012
This is more typical than you realize.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
He’s rubbing his big hairy neck across Forrest’s face.
UncleMax - January 28, 2012
OHMYGOD WHAT AM I MISSING?
Matt Bishop - January 28, 2012
Don't worry bro, it's totally natural
-Neil- - January 28, 2012
Nuzzling Forrest neck.
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Sonnen decision was right on
He won the fight.
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
I'll tell you the viewership was trending toward bored as shit.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
I wanna remind everyone that Herb Dean was a trending topic
He is the most famous person in the world in the history of ever
IRodC - January 28, 2012
He was more explosive than Rashad and Phil COMBINED!
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
He wears VANS which I used to love
Joben - January 28, 2012
I have a pair of stylish VANS, they look nice and all, but they are uncomfortable as fuck. Then again I do have flat feet or something, but yeah, not comfortable shoes at all.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
They were always pretty nice fitting when I was kid
Do they still make them?
Joben - January 28, 2012
Definitely.
Some of my buddies swear by them.
T.C. Engel - January 28, 2012
But Phil knew he wouldn't get a shot unless he won impressively, so does the title shot promise hold up?
UK MMA MAN - January 28, 2012
Forrest said "Athletic"!
Everyone drink!
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
I thought Rashad would bomb Phil out on the feet. His standup is capable, but it is so basic. And I’m guessing Phil has relied on athleticism for the entirety of his UFC run thus far, because his MMA wrestling looked atrocious tonight.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Now on to my black tuxedo cake for dessert
Mmmmmm…..
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
No way Shogun is smaller than Rashad
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
I'm starting to miss Carlos Sonnando
Chael is sticking to a script too much
IRodC - January 28, 2012
"It sounds like he has an hispanic accent..."
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
MATT ROTH
IF THE UFC WAS MADDEN, WHAT WOULD RASHAD’S CAGE IQ RATING BE? DISCUSS.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
He’ll be around top 10 or on the outskirts realistically.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Phil has no hands, I don't get how he learned the low kick before he learned the jab.
Phil’s athleticism appears to have been overrated leading up to this fight. Rashad, at this point in his career, is two levels above Phil Davis. I saw this result coming since the Lil Nog fight, if Jon Jones was fighting Rashad tonight, he would have kept kept him down off the first takedown and clubbed him silly. In Davis’ defense, he should have never been matched with Rashad in the first place, he was pushed into a contender level fight 4-5 fights too soon.
To be perfectly honest, I think anyone who’s betting on Rashad to beat Jones is betting with their heart, and not with their head.
amendamatrix - January 28, 2012
Phil has too wide and muscular upper-upper body to ever learn how to box fluently.
Discuss.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Jay Bilas would cream his pants with Davis' wingspan
IRodC - January 28, 2012
Would he stroke at Jon Jones' then?
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
I don’t buy that, he doesn’t need to be a great boxer, just a competent one. I’ve seen guys of various body types box competently, so his physique is not the issue.
He just didn’t spend enough hours honing his hands, and those horrible looping punches showed that.
amendamatrix - January 28, 2012
He’s not very fast either though.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
True, but that doesn’t mean his boxing technique has to look so bad.
amendamatrix - January 28, 2012
Forrest always sounds like he thinks he's too good to be there
ZapRowsdower - January 28, 2012
If anyone thinks this fight is a robbery, for the love of god, read the Fightmetric report. It is a clear cut 29-28. MMA fans just love calling robbery when a fight is any semblance of close.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Also, it wasn’t really a BAD fight. But I expected a one-sided romp from Sonnen or the exact opposite in Bisping doing his good technical boxing with sticking and moving.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Bisping deserves a ton of respect.
He’s not terrible, just not elite.
IRodC - January 28, 2012
I think he would have mauled Maia
Joben - January 28, 2012
If he had the ability to wrestle at a better level as a kid, he would be elite.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
I can't take credit for it, but here is Bisping's career arc:
Beat 3 or 4 mid-level fighters, then lose against tough competition.
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
How did Bisping do so much better than Anderson? I don’t get it.
Jace_San - January 28, 2012
Chael looked like he was out of it before he threw his first punch.
I think he had a bad weight cut, he didn’t look nearly as faded going up against Marquardt, Silva, and Stann. There were times where Chael looked confused trying to maintain his stance after throwing a shot.
amendamatrix - January 28, 2012
Also he said he got hit so hard he didn’t know where he was. I thought it looked like Bisping was connecting well at the beginning, and apparently it worked.
Baby Wads - January 28, 2012
It’s hard to believe he got hurt that bad from the shots thrown by Bisping, I know that he’s a better striker than most in the division, but it still baffles me. Oh well, Bisping should have won that fight 2 rounds to 1, biased judging may have screwed the brit.
amendamatrix - January 29, 2012
Anderson
IRodC - January 28, 2012
But Luke Rockhold would punish Bisping, right Forrest? Worldbeater, that Rockhold.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Tim Kennedy
IRodC - January 28, 2012
Kennedy's Lats vs. Davis' Lats

crazedfan - January 28, 2012
Nah.. Bisping beats Rockhold
Nah.. Bisping beats RockholdThat would be 3 or 5 rounds of ineffective kickboxing though.
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012

Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Wait Wait. Why would they fight in Brazil? Brazil PPVs don’t sell at all.

Demian Maia = Jorge Gurgel now
crazedfan - January 28, 2012

wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012
Didn’t you say he was a rich man’s Jorge Gurgel? He’s just Jorge Gurgel now…
crazedfan - January 28, 2012
It's pretty much over for Maia now
IRodC - January 28, 2012
Maia looked pretty damn awful. It seems like any good wrestler with some shred of standup training is beating him lately.

Jim Ross is always right.

Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
So Maia's Cage IQ is about 43?
IRodC - January 28, 2012
Did you guys discuss the Sonnen/Bisping score?
Most people on the live thread had Bisping winning. I didn’t see how but people were pretty fucking amped that it was a bad decision.
Joben - January 28, 2012
We only touched on the 30-27
Since we all believed that Sonnen won.
-Neil- - January 28, 2012
Maia is stagnant, he needs to throw everything away and start over at a new camp.
Jace_San - January 28, 2012
Turns out getting knocked out makes you less afraid of it
UK MMA MAN - January 28, 2012
Didn’t Maia just do decent against Munoz? This was his first truly horrible fight
Jace_San - January 28, 2012
I seem to remember him getting taken down alot in the last two rounds
standup was bad technically, but munoz after 1st round prob better
UK MMA MAN - January 28, 2012
Bisping/Maia in ATL
Headlining the Fuel card before the real fights
Joben - January 28, 2012
Ever been in a camp Forrest?
It aint that easy
Joben - January 28, 2012
All this talk about Maia makes it kinda funny that AS was so scared to go to the ground with him back then.
Maia’s BJJ is simply not all that great when adapted to MMA, just like Phil Davis’ wrestling leaves a lot to be desired in MMA.
amendamatrix - January 28, 2012
I think you need to give Weidman one or two more fights against mid-tier. Like him vs. Mayhem Miller and one more fight on that level. Then you start giving him guys like Okami and Bisping.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
What about Almeida JJ
Joben - January 28, 2012
Nik Lentz’s striking looked like it was underwater compared to Dunham. He was getting lit up on the way in trying to clinch with Dunham, but Goldie and Joe seemed to ignore that.

Nate Diaz shows up to the gym in the 2nd episode with a 40 in his hand…that’s nice

wonderfulspam - January 28, 2012

Joben - January 28, 2012
Training partner of his.
Evan would fight him but that’ just a note.
pdl - January 28, 2012
Nah, Maynard isn’t with Xtreme Couture anymore supposedly.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Don't know about that. But they have spent a lot of time working together.
They know each other’s game is my point.
pdl - January 28, 2012
Gotcha.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
He's been saying pettis/lauzon winner
UK MMA MAN - January 28, 2012
Forrest has the tastes of a hipster high schooler in everything. No worries.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Mike Russow is not a winner.
He’s a Chicago cop. That’s the opposite of winning.
pdl - January 28, 2012
Would Russow beat Lesnar?
Joben - January 28, 2012
Russow would have no business fighting Lesnar. That said he just wins. He shouldn’t but he does. Russow by UD.
Baby Wads - January 28, 2012
Yeah
That heavyweight fight was Fat Guys Getting Tired, for sure.
Blair Russell - January 28, 2012

Ok, I’m tapping out. Neil, you did good hosting! Bye y’all
Horselover Fat - January 28, 2012
Ghita knocked out Hesdy badly.
Spong beat Manhoef
Hari beat Saki
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
Ghita knocked out Gerges BAD. And Badr Hari hit three knockdowns on Saki. Pretty much owning him.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Neil must know something about Hesdy Gerges’ drug trafficking with that talk…
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
Me?
I don’t know anything about drugs. Just check my record.
-Neil- - January 28, 2012
I’ll just go get my Anonymous pals…
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
I'm already working on it - Link coming shortly
Joben - January 28, 2012
The Hesdy situation came from a seizure in Belgium that involved some people he knew.
I would never claim to know for sure who is clean and who isn’t, but there is definitely a significant amount of shit that goes on around kickboxers in Europe. The Dutch don’t have shit on Vitali Akhramenko though.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
Why was I high on Roop?
He must have done something recently that made me like him. I mean I thought he was the real deal and forgot about TUF.
Joben - January 28, 2012
like every fight with roop im like yea he could move around kick things maybe go thedistance or someone will just get in close and smack him with a right and he is lights out
MaZZacare - January 28, 2012
I remember him looking good on the ground too.
I may have made that up in my mind
Joben - January 28, 2012
Jens Pulver couldn’t tap Kyle Maynard if you tied both of his arms behind his back.
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
He isn't banned from BE Radio too?
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
LOL
Joben - January 28, 2012
Shhh...
-Neil- - January 28, 2012
Just playing!
Everybody knows that… I hope.
Brent Ducharme - January 28, 2012
band.
Matthew Roth - January 29, 2012
I never got the memo
And until I do, #FreeMikeFagan
-Neil- - January 29, 2012
I still want to know if he's related to the Mike Fagan who used to break into Buckingham Palace back in the day.
Brent Ducharme - January 29, 2012
Also, Matt Roth, for bonus points. What wrestling superstar did Chael Sonnen steal his post-fight promo from?
mountaineers101 - January 28, 2012
I missed the post-fight interview
But if it wasn’t Dusty Rhodes’ “Hard Times” promo then I don’t care.
Matthew Roth - January 28, 2012
Your answer.

Matthew Roth - January 29, 2012
HARD TIMES DADDY!
DUTHY RHODESSS!
Brent Ducharme - January 29, 2012
Any fight should have a warning:MAY CONTAIN WRESTLING
UK MMA MAN - January 28, 2012
I'm watching Tin Cup
Underrated movie
Joben - January 29, 2012
The Jones haters just hating
Imagine yourself in his shoes in FOX
Joben - January 29, 2012
If I know I'm going to be on national TV, I prepare
Everyone needs notes, but looking down awkwardly at them so frequently wasn’t so good.
-Neil- - January 29, 2012
They asked him to it
You can’t even get control of the show you are hosting. Imagine 7 million people paying attention.
Joben - January 29, 2012
I get paid $0 to do this for this audience, and prepare accordingly
When I get paid to go on national TV for a national TV audience, I prepare. It’s not hard to imagine the difference.
-Neil- - January 29, 2012
I called up to blast you
but you guys don’t even have the phones covered. Take on 7 million viewers and be as awesome as always.
Joben - January 29, 2012
Call in to Fox and see how that works out for you
Sorry I prioritize people in the know over a random caller.
-Neil- - January 29, 2012
Yeah I hear all the callers in front of me
My bad. You guys are booked.
Joben - January 29, 2012
You were on for a minute before Bishop hit the line
And I chose him. Did you call in when nobody else was on? No. Maybe you could try calling in on Tuesday or Thursday this week a whine about it. Here’s a hint: don’t call in when they’re interviewing someone, or you’ll get bumped for them too.
-Neil- - January 29, 2012
LOL you mad bro
I just called in and there was no answer. Not sure what you are talking about. See how shook you are and this is in front of 10 listeners. Imagine what Jones was going through before you bash him.
Joben - January 29, 2012
You called in and there was no answer?
Fool, when you call in, you hear the show. If you’re that butt-hurt about not being picked up, maybe you should try calling in to an FM show and see how fast they are to pick you up. It might help if you wait more than three or four minutes, since we didn’t have anyone working the phones tonight to screen calls.
You comparing someone doing a free podcast on their own time while multitasking to a guy who is getting paid to show up and promote a fight and talk to TWO dudes shows how ignorant you are. I expect him to be nervous. I expect him to have notes. I don’t expect him to be constantly looking all the way down at his notes when he’s in the shot.
Better luck next time you call in

-Neil- - January 29, 2012
Are fight fans from Chicago really that ignorant?
mountaineers101 - January 29, 2012
They are not the best
-Neil- - January 29, 2012
Bisping Decision was bad but no one cares.
Sexytime - January 29, 2012
My dog got screwed!
Shouldve been 29-28 sonnen,
UK MMA MAN - January 29, 2012
If Johnny Ace gets written off TV, I’m gonna be pissed. Thoughts?
mountaineers101 - January 29, 2012
lol all mma fighters suck, shut down BE
Rob Young - January 29, 2012
Let Matt Bishop continue.
He’s madder than hell.
Brent Ducharme - January 29, 2012
You can tell because he is saying mildly inappropriate things on-air.
mountaineers101 - January 29, 2012
There is tangible evidence that Forrest Lynn doesn’t know about a damn thing.
mountaineers101 - January 29, 2012
FORREST LYNN GOT THIS.
Brent Ducharme - January 29, 2012
