As you eagerly await the offensive displays and drama that are the NHL All-Star Game and the NFL Pro Bowl, kill some time on a Sunday afternoon with the full video of Saturday's UFC On Fox 2 post-event press conference from Chicago.
The video here (which actually starts at the 33-minute mark) features UFC PR king Ant Evans, Rashad Evans, Phil Davis, Chael Sonnen, Michael Bisping, Lavar Johnson and Chris Weidman talking about their wins, losses and what's next. Dana White didn't attend.
Evans said the event drew 17,425 for a live gate of $1.2 million. Evans defeated Davis by unanimous decision in the main event, while Sonnen bested Bisping in a close unanimous decision win. Weidman defeated Demian Maia by unanimous decision (incorrectly announced as a split decision), while Johnson earned Knockout Of The Night for his first round KO of Joey Beltran on the Fuel TV undercard.
See the full 45-minute video after the jump.

Can’t help but like Phil Davis, classy guy. Bisping may have gained more respect in a loss than anyone since Sonnen himself beat Silva up for 4 rounds 4 and half minutes.

Dana didn't want to answer questions
About being pwned by hackers. Chael’s candor was refreshing

1st fight and win a bonus?
Outside of LaVar, who else has won a “Of the Night” bonus in their first UFC fight that won?

Demian Maia and Junior dos Santos, off the top of my head.

I can't recall off the top of my head.
Lavar looked awesome against Beltran. The Mexicutioner had never been KO’d before, but Lavar was throwing bombs at him. Interested to know who they face Lavar up with next.
And wondering if Beltran will drop to light-heavy, the dude come into this bout slimmed down, but still carrying a fair bit of flab. I think he could easily cut to 205lbs from where he’s at right now.
@KatanaClothing - January 29, 2012
I’m guessing that the UFC will give Lavar someone who’ll stand with him like Barry or Mitrione. Beltran was used as a low level gatekeeper who has fun fights, and I can see the UFC using Lavar the same way.

Rewatched the Sonnen/Bisping fight since I didn't pay much attention to the fight the first time around.
Bisping clearly won the first two rounds. Yeah, Chael took him down, but he didn’t do much and Bisping got up pretty quickly most of the time. That said, I can see how the judges could have awarded Chael the win. Mostly because it seems judges have a hardon for takedowns, but don’t seem to distinguish very well between a takedown where subsequent damage and attempts to finish are done, vs takedowns for the sake of takedowns.
pud333 - January 29, 2012
I think it’s still a matter of judges still putting to much stock in takedowns. You can even see fighters now trying to get takedowns at the end of rounds and think that if they secure it, it will steal the round for them.
milliondollardreams - January 29, 2012
They've always done that
that’s nothing new.

FightMetric
FightMetric had it 29-28 for Sonnen. With grappling and striking going to Sonnen.

Interesting.
pud333 - January 30, 2012
I honestly don’t understand how someone could say Bisping “clearly” won the first two rounds when he spent most of the time getting back to his feet and pushing/being pushed against the cage… In rounds where there isn’t a lot happening, takedowns are important. In rounds where there’s effective striking going on, then I agree, “takedowns for the sake of takedowns” shouldn’t be very important.

UFC PR king Ant Evans
Seems pretty nervous about talking for a PR king.

Everyone should have been watching the replay of the Djokovic/Nadal finals from early this morning. Amazing match.
