UFC On Fuel 1 Fight Card: Sanchez Vs. Ellenberger

Ufc_on_fuel_1_banner_medium

Fuel has added a lot of customers lately, and will likely add a few more in advance of the first full card on the network. The main event sees rising star Jake Ellenberger taking on the always-tough Diego Sanchez. Two big heavyweight bouts make up the remainder of the main card at the moment, along with a middleweight bout between prospect Ronny Markes and Aaron Simpson. Here's the current card (undercard after the jump):

Feb 15th, live on Fuel TV from Omaha, NE:

Main Card:

Diego Sanchez (26-5) vs. Jake Ellenberger (23-4)

Dave Herman (21-2) vs. Stefan Struve (22-5)

Ronny Markes (12-1) vs. Aaron Simpson (11-2)

Philip de Fries (8-0, 1 NC) vs. Stipe Miocic (7-0)

Does anyone think Walel obliterates TJ?

Nope.

Not at all. I’ve got Dillashaw by Sub.

Have you seen Walel on the ground? I think his jits is on another level entirely from TJs.

Yes

… oh wait no. You should definitely pick TJ

OH.

In that case, better go change my pick to TJ TKO1

i agree with you there
Ellenberger is going to beast on Diego
No reason to think

It’s going to be close at all.

Diego has nasty cardio and strong scrambles.

the Rocha fight showed Ellenberger struggling against a strong scrambler, and he showed cardio liabilities in the Condit fight. I’m the opposite of a Diego Sanchez fan but this isn’t the squash match it looks like.

Rocha is a tough fighter, Diego hasn’t looked good for awhile. Ellenberger also came in short notice against Condit along with being his first Ufc fight. Knocking out Shields should matter more than how he looked 3 fights or 5 fights ago.

He knocked out a Shields that really didn’t want to fight that night… hard to take a whole lot from that fight, honestly.

Ellenberger had fought Sean Pierson and Shields coming off the death of his dad during his training camp. Before that, he had the unimpressive split decision vs Rocha.

Valid points

But Rocha’s BJJ is light years beyond Diego’s, and he’s a much better athlete to boot. The cardio is a concern, but that was quite a while ago, and he’s shown no problems since then. Long story short, Diego’s game is his wrestling, and Ellenberger’s been taken down exactly once in his UFC career (by Condit in the third round, when he was badly gassed). But yeah, Diego’s cardio is on another level; if he can impose his pace, then Ellenberger might be in trouble.

If Diego is on beast mode

He could outwork Ellenberg. Id like to see that.

I didn't know Maia was fighting at heavyweight now thats a quick jump

Dilashaw Watson should be a fun fight

Herman vs. Struve is my bet for most fun fight of the night

I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you
What a coincidence, I'm in the market for a bridge
I have a much better deal than TC
As in most fun made of

High levels of awesomeness in that fight.

I know its off topic and I feel pretty stupid asking this, but how do I post pictures in my comments? The way it describes in the formatting guide doesn’t seem to show up when I preview it

There’s a little picture of a tree right above where you type the message. Just hit that and insert the direct link to the image in question.

1. Click the tree
2. Paste the image URL
3. You are now an image master

Same as above

But be sure to use a direct link

Oops

Tim already said that

I didn't know how either so I've got to test it...

How’d you do it?? I tried pasting the link from a picture I found on google images into the tree thing like Tim said, but it didn’t work.

That's what I did and it worked

try opening the image in a new tab to get the proper URL for it then try

This is a really good card for Fuel.
I thought the same thing

It may not have a lot of big names, but it should deliver in terms of action.

yeah this card is better than some of the FX cards they've got planned

IMO

I'm here for the tears of those who don't get Fuel.

That Philip De Fries guy looks suspiciously similar to one of those tools from that MTV “MMA” reality show, which makes me want him to lose by devastating KO

After watching his debut

I expect your wish to become a reality. Stipe should destroy this guy.

Thiago Alves is the man!
three mirror matches in one night!
It's really just him shadow boxing for about an hour to fill in time.
I thought Sanchez lost to Kampman. Ellenberger is on a serious roll and i'm not sure about this matchup.
Diego when they offered him the fight:

" ……….…… yes?"

Nice knowin ya, nightmare.

It’s The Dream now.

Are the prelims also going to be on Fuel?

on ufc.com it says 5 fights on main card those four plus dillashaw vs watson

That does NOT look like Diego on the event poster....

Nice card. Ellenberger by crushing KTFO.

Just so i'm absolutely positive:

If you have comcast there is no way to watch this, correct? Does anyone know of future plans to add fuel to their channel lineup? They have fuel tv in their on demand selection, makes no sense.

Also what is everyones thoughts on brookins/rocha? Im taking rocha

Phil De Fries

..looks like a white Paul Daley. I did a double take.

… What? No.. Not even a little bit.

HAHAHAA, WHAAAAAAAAAT!!!

Maybe a m.r. Demian Maia.

Dyslexia strikes again.

I meant Ronny Markes, but yes, he does look like Maia’s little cousin.

Solid card for Fuel, just wish I had it. Lots of fun fights.

Does anyone else see Herman/Struve looking like two lanky marionettes fighting.
