UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones continues to make the media rounds, dropping by the Opie & Anthony radio show earlier this week to talk MMA and show off his submission skills in the process.
The popular XM satellite radio show routinely has UFC guests on and counts Dana White among its largest fans. When fighters drop by the New York studio, it's a tradition for comedian and show friend Jim Norton to have them apply submission holds and throw strikes to see how long they can last.
Fedor Emelianenko famous bugged Norton's eyes out, Anderson Silva delivered one of his high kicks, B.J. Penn applied an armbar and Brock Lesnar applied some pressure on past shows.
Another one of the show's regulars is comedian Bobby Kelly, who has appeared on Ariel Helwani's MMA Hour before. This time, it was Kelly's turn for some punishment and he asked Jones to apply a rear naked choke on him.
See the video and the predictable result after the jump.

I'm surprised he wasn't crying

Hey at least he checked on him, probably got himself some fans.
Sweet Scientist - February 16, 2012
Yeah he learned from dropping Machida to the mat.
Since it’s Jon, he probably aligned the guy’s spine in the process.
Kwisatz Haderach - February 16, 2012
Why did he wait so long to tap LOL
Papercut Elbow - February 16, 2012
Jones always holds onto chokes too long.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
If he held on any longer, he’d be a choker or sumptin…tss..tss.. I dunno..
butt.bar.bandit - February 16, 2012
Tss tss…that’s the first Bone, Bob Kelly’s ever seen or sumthin tss tss
BVandDietPepsi - February 16, 2012
Jones held on to that shit way too long
It hurt his ego he couldnt put him to sleep.
NihilisticJ0ker - February 16, 2012
Ah, he did hold it for a while after the tap(s), but not long enough to hurt the guy.
I’m a JBJ hater but I say no harm, no foul on this one.
BWV988 - February 16, 2012
lol i love it when MMA guys go on Opien and Anthony's show
At least Kelly held on longer than Jim Norton, he usually taps before they even start squeezing.
Honestly thou, big props to both of them for letting professional fighters do all this crazy shit to them, they are bigger men than I am.

Opien
From the iron sheiks appearance. I got you.

Depends if you're a Rampage or Machida fan.
Sweet Scientist - February 16, 2012
Bizarre
I would deservedly get some shit at my academy for holding a choke like that after about 10 taps. I know there’s not much danger in losing consciousness from a blood choke, but still.

'I know there’s not much danger in losing consciousness from a blood choke, but still.'
. . . What?
StephenDedalus - February 16, 2012
Nevermind
After re-reading, I think I misunderstood you. Sorry.
StephenDedalus - February 16, 2012
I read it the same way
I was like… I sleep from blood chokes often (I’m stubborn AKA stupid)… but there’s no harm when you do.
PorkchopSandwich - February 16, 2012
That was wierd
Bones held on way to long
On an unrelated note Demain Maia is apparently dropping to 170
MattParker117 - February 16, 2012
i dont get this!
the idea that changing weight classes rejuvenates your career never made much sense to me, most guys who went that route failed royally. stann, florini, faber come to mind, this has to stop, its all about skill, if you dont address your weakness, someone is going to exploit em, no matter what division.
carmine99 - February 16, 2012
Florian was a title contender at 155 and 145
He would never have been that at 170. Faber also would no longer be in the mix at 145, but he’s #2 or #3 in the world at 135. Stann was barely UFC-level at 205 and is Top 10 at 185, although part of that was him switching camps and gaining skill. Chael Sonnen was not a major player at 205 after he did challenge Tito, but he is far and away #2 in the world at 185. At 205 he wouldn’t even be in the Top 10. Belfort started his career at HW, and would be a non-factor at HW today, and would not be terribly relevant at 205, but at 185 he’s Top 5 in the world even after 15 years in this sport. Very few people have Belfort’s punching power at MW. A fair amount of people do at LHW and it’s rather common among top HWs.
Weight cutting to gain an advantage is a very proven advantage in a number of combat sports, and it’s not going anywhere.
Chromium - February 16, 2012
Honestly i think Faber would still be the #2 or #3 FW in the world if he fought at 145
also, when did Sonnen “challenge” Tito?
darkotto23 - February 16, 2012
Stann and Faber have royally failed? Stann went on a decent run until he lost to the #2 MW in the world and Faber has absolutely smashed every BW he has fought besides Dominick Cruz. And Florian never looked great after the drop but he didn’t look awful. Granted dropping in weight usually doesn’t revitalize a career but those fighters are not the best example.
zstraub65 - February 16, 2012
Not necessarily about a "drop" but...
BJ Penn moved up and revitalized his career… became WW champion… then dropped back to LW and became the LW champ… hit a roadblock named Edgar and did work at 170…Randy Couture couldn’t fight against the HW’s at the time and dropped to become the LHW champion…. logic fail
PorkchopSandwich - February 16, 2012
"hit a roadblock named Edgar and did work at 170"
1-1-1 is doing work these days?
underrated ground game - February 16, 2012
logic fail ? sure.....
randy and penn got to where they are by their skills alone! not by jumping up/down the weight class, penn wanted a legacy, he had to serve his ego, so he did what he did, but guys these days are doin it just to stay in the UFC after getting some L’s in a row, not exactly the same thing.
carmine99 - February 16, 2012
where he'll get KTFO by the resident wrestleboxers of 170
sigh… he’s damn good at MW. He should stay there.
The Lethal Haze - February 16, 2012
read my mind
he’s going to get boxed up and laid on
Cunny - February 16, 2012
good, he can gas from the weight cut as well as shitty cardio
Maia does not have much fat or muscle to lose
goddamn you demian, just grapple
Cunny - February 16, 2012
When Fedor was showing some chokes of course Shamrock had to jump in and try to be cool.
J_Maddux - February 16, 2012
Jones didn't stop when he tapped. Bitch move.
