Dan Henderson has been waiting for his next fight since his incredible win over Mauricio Rua at UFC 139. It seemed that the fight had put him in line for a title shot but the way the divisions have already been lined up, he has been put on the back burner without a clue what was next. And from what Dana White is saying, he doesn't know what is next for Hendo either.
If Rashad Evans had been upset by Phil Davis, Henderson would have been thrust into a title fight with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. And even if Evans had won but Chael Sonnen had lost his fight on the same night, Henderson might have received a chance at a rematch with middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva.
Neither of those scenarios transpired, however, as both Evans and Sonnen won, setting up their own respective title shots. That has left Henderson in a kind of championship purgatory, with no obvious short-term move, according to Dana White."He doesn't want to fight Machida," White said following last night's UFC on FUEL event. "He doesn't want to wait. He's going to have to wait. Who does he want to fight? I don't know what to do with Dan. Dan's either going to have to wait for Jones or wait for Silva. Or fight somebody else."
It's unfortunate because Henderson is near his expiration date, turning 42 later this year. I would hope that they can get Dan a single fight and then get him into a title fight of some sort before it's just too late for him to have his one last shot while still a legitimate (read: not old and shot) fighter.

I think Hendo is near the end of his career
so he’s going to wait out for a title shot so he can end his career on top. Win or lose I think he would retire.

Hendo vs. Machida
Machida would probably beat the shit out of him, but it’d be a great fight in theory.
SSreporters - February 16, 2012
For Machida maybe
Lyoto won’t just stand there and throw like what Fedor and Shogun did.
av1o3 - February 16, 2012
But if Jones can KO him
Hendo would do terrible, terrible things to his brain.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
Jones strangled the life out of him there is a difference.
MattParker117 - February 16, 2012
The choke was a direct result of the superman punch that dropped Machida clean, though
Of course, Machida would still take Hendo down into full mount and then smash.
SSreporters - February 16, 2012
Lots of guys land good punches and don't finish with a submission.
Big Nog tried to submit Mir after having him rocked.
Albert tried to submit Menjivar after having him rocked.
Jones is the best choke artist in the world; that’s why he finished Machida. Not cause he rocked him with a punch.
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
No doubting Jones' choke abilities.
But he was in a position to get that submission because Machida was already hurt.
I’m discussing the reason not the outcome.
SSreporters - February 16, 2012
Fair enough.
I was mostly answering to Warbreezy, who said that if Jones can KO Machida, Hendo will do terrible things to his brain.
In fact, I agree with your assertion that Machida would take Hendo down and beat him.
So my post was kind of silly.
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
Wait, what? Really? I agree it was very impressive, but..
Horselover Fat - February 16, 2012
Who is better at finishing chokes in MMA?
Jones is a freakish finisher. I think he attempted one submission against Machida, one submission against Rampage and one submission against Bader. He finished all of them.
Sure, he usually does damage before he puts the choke on, but as we’ve seen in other fights, doing some damage and then going for a sub doesn’t equal victory all the time at all.
I think Jones is very underrated in his ability to finish chokes.
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
Bader also got choked out by Tito Ortiz, so there’s that. I think Rampage had kind of given up at that point, I don’t know if he couldn’t have done something more about it.. also I don’t quite remember the last time someone had his back, but he does have very good defense of course. I think Machida is the best one of them since he is a legit black belt, but he was also rocked senseless just before getting choked.
Look at me, making excuses! He’s definitely very good at them, I personally wouldn’t go so far as saying he’s the best. Not sure who else I’d might anoint either though. Maybe Roger Gracie, but that’s almost cheating.
Horselover Fat - February 16, 2012
The thing is.....
…Jones isn’t a one dimensional fighter like Gracie, or other fantastic BJJ guys.
He does damage to you first, then chokes you out when you are busy trying to defend from his strikes. Does that make him the best choke artist in the world? Maybe not. Best in MMA? I think so.
It’s probably dependant on how you define “best”. Is his technique the best? No. If fighting was limited to only using chokes, would he be the best? Probably not. In the scope of MMA though, with the ability to do damage first, he’s pretty much peerless.
In my opinion of course.
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
Well, you’ve certainly stated your case very well. I don’t necessarily disagree with any of that, other than for me it’s a little too early to be calling him that. I’m also a little hesitant in general to be calling people “the best” at anything, as it’s so definitive. Like I said below, maybe if he can take out another top opponent with a choke this year I’ll join you.
Horselover Fat - February 16, 2012
Yup.
Same goes for the term “MMA striking”
Ex:
“GSP outstruck Alves”
“But it was because he made him fear his shot”
That’s MMA, folks.

Truth
discoandherpes - February 17, 2012
When I saw your original post about JBJ being the best choke finisher in the world, I thought it was crazy (this coming from a JBJ fan). But then you stated your case well, and you know I can’t really think of anyone else that compares. Maybe Overeem? He has top-notch striking, and if he gets you in a guillotine, forget about it. But then again, off the top of my head, I can’t remember his submitting anyone since Thompson (not exactly the best fighter in the world, so take with a grain of salt). Frank Mir also comes to mind for having killer finishing abilities. I can’t remember a submission that he didn’t finish. Not a lot of guys in the smaller weight classes, which is weird. So, I would definitely agree, JBJ is right up there with the best of the best. Dude has killer instincts, for sure.
Baba Booey - February 17, 2012
To clarify...
When I think of the “best” at finishing chokes, I’m thinking of a guy that attempts a choke/submission that guys don’t get out of. Like I said, JBJ, Mir come to mind. There are other guys that are better submission specialists (see: the Gracies, Maia, etc.) because they have more chokes/submissions in their arsenal, but they don’t necessarily finish them every time.
Baba Booey - February 17, 2012
rampage uses all strength to escape subs.
He gets worn down when sub fighting. He is crazy hard to take down
the-gentle-way - February 16, 2012 via mobile
BJ Penn
Bones has perfect arms for choking – super long and skinny, but you have to go with Penn here. No question.
nannerb - February 17, 2012
Penn couldn't finish Fitch when he got his back twice.
So that takes a lot away from him. The thing about Jones is he’s finished at least one guy without really doing much damage to him first in Ryan Bader.
I don’t believe that Penn has ever finished any other submission but a rear naked choke and that is almost always following a beat down.
Yes, in some of the other cases Jones has beat down his opponents first, but he’s just more clinical and quicker at finishing.
Luke Nelson - February 17, 2012
Not being able to submit Jon Fitch definitely isn't a strike against you,
especially when you’re fighting above your optimal weight division.
ElliotMatheny - February 18, 2012
He tapped Machida, which has never been done
He tapped Rampage, which has only ever been done by Sakuraba.
He tapped Bader for Ryan’s first career loss until Tito smashed him.
SSreporters - February 16, 2012
Yes. That’s still only three victories though. Maybe if he can choke out Rashad or someone else down the line I’ll agree with you.
Horselover Fat - February 16, 2012
But he choked Jake O’Brien!
T.C. Engel - February 16, 2012 via mobile
That choke was fucking vicious
I don’t even care that it was Jake O’Brien. That belongs on the list.
halitosis - February 16, 2012 via mobile
Ummmm…. no. it was a direct result of him being rocked him with a punch. Much in the same way tito choked Bader.
jones isn’t the best choke artist in the world, nor mma. Marcelo Garcia ,Rickson Gracie or Roger Gracie hold that title.
Jones is the best 205lb mma fighter. That’s why he finished him. He transitioned from one phase to another and got the choke. It doesn’t cheapen the win.
the-gentle-way - February 16, 2012 via mobile
He is the best MMA choker
Uses all aspects of MMA to lead to a choke finish.
halitosis - February 16, 2012 via mobile
Bj Penn , roger Gracie, etc. Still have better chokes in mma. Period.

clayguidashair - February 16, 2012
Machida said he never recovered from the hellbow that split his head open
Cunny - February 16, 2012
Jones didn't KO Machida.
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
Machida was out,
He dropped like a ton of bricks and Jones just happened to choke him, rather than elbow the shit out of his face for the stoppage.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
That's a bit simplistic.
When you watch the finish again, Machida is in the process of getting back to his feet when Jones puts the choke on. He’s on his knees when Jones sinks it in.
To say he was out is just incorrect.
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
He wasn’t out, but he was beat to shit. First Jones smashed his face with an elbows and cut him bad. They seperated and Jones dropped him with that big punch. After which, Lyoto was pressed against the cage taking major damage. He was pretty much done for when Jones sunk that choke in.
Schwizzles - February 16, 2012 via mobile
How do you define being out?
He wasn’t just wobbled or rocked. If somebody drops the way he did, I think they’re pretty much unconscious. He didn’t get stiff armed, but he was out and recovered, right before Jones sunk in the choke.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
I mean, he got dropped and then he was getting right back up.
It happens to a lot of fighters. It happened to Diego Sanchez last night in the first round.
I would call what happened to Jon Fitch at 141 “out”. He got hit, fell like a tree, got hit again and would have ended up stretched out by subsequent punches had the ref not saved him.
Schwizzles, I’m not sure what you are getting at when you say he was taking “pressed against the cage taking major damage”. Jones put the choke on in the scramble that took place after the punch. It happened pretty fast and Jones didn’t hit him with much after the initial shot, just locked up the choke.
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
I'll admit that he wasn't out cold.
But I think if that punch had landed in the middle of the cage(rather than right up against it), it probably would’ve been stopped before Jones got the choke.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
Fair enough.
And you are certainly correct in your assertion that Jones could have finished Machida with strikes, if he so chose.
Back to the original issue at hand though…You think Hendo would KO Machida?
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
I think it is very likely.
Hendo has absolutely ridiculous power. Fedor took some savage ground and pound from Bigfoot and never looked dazed, but Dan put him out with a single uppercut. He also dropped Shogun pretty badly. I just don’t think Machida’s chin is close comparing with Fedor’s or Rua’s.
The issue is, would Dan be able to land that right hand. I don’t know. In a 5 round fight, my guess would be that he would, and that would be bad for Machida.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
He can definitely knock him out in theory. Lyoto’s chin is average. However (and I could be wrong), but I cannot see how Dan Henderson hits Lyoto with the one tool in his arsenal. Dan has decent enough boxing, but we are talking about the guy who takes the least amount of strikes in MMA. A stiff 42 year old Dan Henderson is going to hit him with that one shot? Lyoto is going to be looking for that right hand all fight.
Dev93L - February 17, 2012
Just out of curiosity and because I respect what you are trying to say, what leads you to believe Dan could actually hit him with that bomb? I would say if anything Lyoto has proved he is overall excellent at avoiding knockout blows. Just because 5 rounds is an awfully long time to 100% dodge him when one could do it?
Dev93L - February 17, 2012
Perhaps I’ve got the sequence slightly out of order here, but I remember them seperating after the cut, and Kyoto looking really sluggish and taking a deep breath. Lyoto moved into throw and got dropped like a sack of dirt by a huge left. Lyoto then moves in for a real weak takedown attempt. This is where I get a bit hazy, but I think Jones pressed him against the cage and threw some knees to the body before slapping on the choke.
Anyways, I still don’t agree that Jones is the best at applying chokes in MMA. No doubt, he’s very good. But its not as if his success comes from his dazzlingly array of chokes or his sneaky way of setting them up. In almost all of his finishes he’s beaten his opponents into a living death and then slapped on a choke.
Schwizzles - February 16, 2012 via mobile
No
Jones dropped him with a short superman punch, Machida dropped face first, and Jones sunk in the choke while sprawled out. Jones pushed him back up against the cage and then Machida went out.
halitosis - February 16, 2012 via mobile
When Fitch’s arms went straight..he was out..
TheIrishLemon - February 16, 2012
Maybe you didn’t watch the Shogun vs Machida fight one and two lolol
Peter Lee - February 16, 2012
Did you?
Do you really think Hendo could do what Shogun did? Hendo never throws kicks and doesn’t have the footwork to catch Lyoto.
av1o3 - February 16, 2012
Exactly. Dan is not a Muay Thai master.
Dev93L - February 17, 2012
Wow.
halitosis - February 16, 2012 via mobile
When he gets KO’ed he is done, as long as that Iron Chin and brutal power are there is is a threat to anyone. Once that chin is gone, so is Hendo.
Kefka - February 16, 2012
Dan actually gets wobbled in a lot of his fights.
But he has great instincts and recovery skills.
lolumad - February 16, 2012
He has never been knocked out, he has one of the best chins in mma. I know some people have different criteria for good chins, mine is not being able to be KO’d.
Kefka - February 16, 2012
exactly
TheCode - February 17, 2012
The only names I can come up with are Stephan Bonnar and Vladimir Matyushenko and I don’t want any of that. If Strikeforce had died like it should of Gegard Mousasi and Dan Henderson would probably be on the Atlanta show fighting for a title shot.
MattParker117 - February 16, 2012
Hell, I'm still pissed at Strikeforce
For not booking Hendo vs. Mousasi right off the bat. That’s the fight they should have made as soon as Hendo signed, instead of Hendo-Shields and Mousasi-Mo.
MichaelDavidSmith - February 16, 2012
It should be happening right now
Strikeforce is a waste of time and money for everyone involved (thanks a bunch FTC) and the fight still makes a ton of sense.
MattParker117 - February 16, 2012
Wow, looks like he’s ducking Team Nog like the plague. No to Lil Nog, no to Machida. Guess he figures if he’s gonna get his ass beat he at least wants a chance at the title.
The Lethal Haze - February 16, 2012
This is why its a mystery to me why they are wasting Rampage on Bader of all people. A Hendo rematch is guaranteed fireworks and would have drawn in Japan.
Hutchy - February 16, 2012
Rampage vs. Hendo is quietly one of the best fights in UFC history
How that didn’t win FOTN is beyond me.
SSreporters - February 16, 2012

Sweet Scientist - February 16, 2012
Really it should have been
Shogun and Rampage in Japan
Dan and Little Nog in Atlanta(leave the Montreal card alone with Bones/Shad)
Bader/Gustaff Son in Sweden
TheCode - February 17, 2012
Agreed
Rampage’s grappling in all aspects, really surprised me in that fight. If there had been a bit more striking exchanges the fight would be remembered more that it is.
TheCode - February 17, 2012
The 5 round war with Shogun may have had something to do with it, the quick turn around also.
tremblay6 - February 16, 2012 via mobile
Should push Gegard into a Co-Main UFC 145 against Hendo
AfroSamurai - February 16, 2012
Pretty sure that Hendo was on medical suspension (or life support) when they made that fight.
No way he’d have gotten in a proper camp.
McKinley B. Noble - February 17, 2012
I don’t see anything wrong with him waiting for his shot, he knows how close he is to the end and he has deserved one more chance. If not, I’d like to see him versus Rampage, that would have been a phenomenal fight to have on the Japan card.
Ak.Death - February 16, 2012

At this point in Hendo’s career he’s fishing for superfights and/or Championship fights (as he should)….personally I think he should wait for the Evans/Jones winner…….if he really cant wait that long then Rampage aslong as he wins and comes out unscathed from Bader bout.
e-thug - February 16, 2012

John Danaher's Hair - February 16, 2012
These fights don't do anything for him at all.
He’s already the number 2 guy in the division, and short of a rematch with Rua, every other fight is just a risk he shouldn’t take.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
Even a rematch with Rua is a risk he shouldn’t take. He got a win on his record (I felt Shogun won, personally, but it was definitely a close fight). They took a ton of damage, I say leave the rematch alone. Both of their stocks rose with that fight, I don’t think they have anything to gain from a rematch.
thirdparty - February 16, 2012
He needs to fight. Maybe Machida or Bonnar?
TheLastEmpress - February 16, 2012

Is there anyone else out there that is a little tired of Hendo?
I mean, he’s had a great career and deserves a ton of credit for his success as a forty-something, but to me he’s not a viable title contender anymore and his recent victories are nowhere near as awesome as he seems to think they are.
Shogun, Fedor and Babalu were shells of their former selves and I’m sorry but Rafael Cavalcante has yet to prove to me that he’s a top 10 fighter. So while his recent streak looks great on paper, I’m just not that impressed.
And now it seems he’s refusing any fights that aren’t title fights, as if he is truly above everyone else at 205 or 185.
I can’t fault him for wanting a big pay day at the end of his career but the way he’s going about all this just rubs me the wrong way.
Now, feel free to let me have it…
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
Heres the thing
In his current incarnation, he is a viable contender. More so than almost anyone left at LHW or MW
warren305 - February 16, 2012
Hendo's earned his last shot at gold IMO.
Sweet Scientist - February 16, 2012
Do you mean he's rightfully earned a chance to fight for a title one more time?
Or do you mean that he won’t ever fight for a title again?
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
I mean he's earned a chance to fight for it one more time.
Sweet Scientist - February 16, 2012
ahhh.
Well, I can’t really disagree at 205 pounds, since he’s the only guy with any credentials at all, (save for Rashad, but I’m not counting him since he’s already getting the next shot)
As for 185 though, he has no case….
Luke Nelson - February 16, 2012
I don't want to see Hendo at 185 either.
Sweet Scientist - February 16, 2012
Only person who wants to see that less is Hendo.
POW - February 16, 2012
He just doesn't want to risk losing the position he is in.
Amnd frankly, I agree with him. He got screwed over when the shot was given to Rashad, because they wanted to capture the ghost of whatever hype was left over from the Jones/Shad beef. I’d be a little annoyed too, if I was the number one contender, just beat two legends and STILL got passed over, even though I was ready to fight.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
He didn't get screwed, hes just behind Rashad in line
warren305 - February 16, 2012
Why though?
Why is Rashad ahead of him, just because he missed out on his shot a while ago?
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
Well, yeah. Rashad’s definitely a priority over Hendo
warren305 - February 16, 2012
Because Rashad didn't just tool a top 10 LHW after already having earned a title shot?
joker24 - February 16, 2012
Dan is coming off of a KO of Fedor and war with Shogun.
He’s currently the #2 guy in the division.
I don’t see how Rashad decisioning Davis in unimpressive fashion puts him in any better of a position that Henderson.
Warbreezy - February 16, 2012
And I'll phrase it...
…that barely edging out a guy that got murderdeathkilled by Jones and KOing a shot Fedor is less impressive than beating Davis, Rampage and Silva. Tiebreaker goes to the “beef”, which everyone would complain they are wasting if they put Henderson in over Rashad, so it’s can’t win with this crowd.
joker24 - February 16, 2012

I cant say a victory over an in experienced fighter like Phil Davis propels you into a title shot

Chris Hall - February 17, 2012
Pride's belts didn't mean much to begin with
And he never defended either of his titles. Shogun’s accomplishments in PRIDE far eclipse Hendo’s despite the fact he never had one of their belts.
I’m not trying to discount is achievements, but him having two belts around his waist was meaningless compared to his actual quality of wins.

In the fans eyes. I’m usually against fighters waiting for fights, but he’s a 42 yr old legend that just beat Fedor and Shogun. He’s smart to wait
warren305 - February 16, 2012
Plus
there really isn’t anybody else at 205 that I can think of that has the right to challenge for the title. Still seems a little early for Gustaffson, if his last fight lasted a little longer maybe I would have changed my mind. It was an impressive win but there wasn’t really any opportunity for him to show his progress.
av1o3 - February 16, 2012
There is no one else
Frankly, thats the only reason Dan’s next in line for the title. Dan’s not at the top of the class, Jones has just beaten everyone else. LHW is shortly going to be MW and WW, where all the elite guys in the division have already lost to the champ.
warren305 - February 16, 2012
Machida has lost 3 of his last 4. He doesn’t deserve a fight with Hendo right now, sorry. Give Machida someone like Matyushenko or Shogun or Griffin, not someone who is a win away from a title shot.
As for Hendo, maybe give him a middleweight fight? Or a franklinweight fight, I don’t really care. I’d like to see him fight the Nogueira-Gustafsson winner for a title shot.
Jeffrey McCrum - February 16, 2012
Agreed about Machida, that would be a really stupid fight for Hendo to take at this point.
Horselover Fat - February 16, 2012
Shame on you Dana!!
Gimme a break Dana…Hendo is the #1 contender without a doubt!! Rashad Evans is going to get embarrased and I can’t believe people are still talking about Bisping!! No need to post the K.O shot!! Dana show Hendo the respect he deserves and give him a shot at Jones. Dan Henderson is a warrior and has never sat out for a year waiting for a fight, unlike Rashad. Hendo is a true UFC hall of famer and his record speaks for itself. Dana holds grudges against fighters and I’m pretty sure if Hendo hadn’t of been at the top in strikeforce, Dana would have never of brought Hendo back into the mix. I can’t say much more than that, I guess I’m just disappointed that Hendo’s career is coming to an end and he’s going to take a back seat to Sugar “Softboy” Evans!! Much respect Hendo, what ever happens you will always be one of the greatest.
Peter Lee - February 16, 2012
Who the fuck are you?
POW - February 16, 2012
WHO AM I
Someone who has been in the business a long time..so ease your tone there Mr prisoner of war
Peter Lee - February 16, 2012
Lol wtf are you talking about dude
Dan’s currently turning down fights and waiting for a title fight, is certainly “in the mix”, and if Dana had a grudge against Dan he wouldnt be in the UFC. Let alone being allowed to wait for a title fight in the weight class of his choosing.
I will not feed you again.
warren305 - February 16, 2012
So your saying Dana doesn’t hold grudges?
frosty31 - February 16, 2012
Not sure if serious...

RolloTomasi - February 16, 2012

Keith Moon - February 17, 2012
I like how fast Bisping's head whips back regardless of the slow-mo
TheCode - February 17, 2012

halitosis - February 16, 2012 via mobile
well in his defense...
he apparently was laughing out loud out loud
flyingkneetoface - February 17, 2012
Just book the Shogun rematch already.
He is going to end up waiting around and we get another Rashad situation. I think they will book it soon haven’t heard anything about Shogun or Hendo recently. Shogun won the first fight and got robbed by the judges as usual plus he Shogun doesn’t lose rematches.
nickrodamous - February 16, 2012
Remember when Dan Henderson lost to Jake Shields
lol
warren305 - February 16, 2012
Hahahha
Classic. I remember that and when he lost to Anderson Silva why he doesn’t deserve a rematch anymore than Vitor Chris Leben lol
nickrodamous - February 16, 2012
Dude...Jake Shields
Just to bring everybody back to earth on this whole Dan Henderson world beater talk
warren305 - February 16, 2012
Should have kept Forrest Griffin
for this rather than wasting him on Tito
Also, Franklin rematch?
Stiff Jab - February 16, 2012
Only at 5 rounds..that was a great fight
Chris Hall - February 16, 2012
Resurrect the old 'UFC Superfight Championship' just for him to defend
UK MMA MAN - February 16, 2012
I see it now
Hendo vs Anthony Perosh UFC 146
clayguidashair - February 16, 2012
Hendo needs a low-risk fight against a fighter with a name
I say put him in against Franklin
WARistotle - February 16, 2012
How is Franklin low risk?
Their first fight was incredibly close and I think Franklin would have won a 5 round fight.
Chris Hall - February 16, 2012
Which is actually a pretty damn high risk fight considering Franklin got screwed out of that decision a few years back.
Jeffrey McCrum - February 16, 2012
It was a very close fight
I wouldn’t say either fighter got screwed regardless of which way that decision went.
Chris Hall - February 16, 2012
1st time I watched it I thought Rich won
2nd and 3rd time Hendo.
RolloTomasi - February 16, 2012
I had it for Hendo, but it was an all time great fight and by no means a robbery
Chris Hall - February 16, 2012
Basically, Henderson SHOULD have taken the Rogerio fight
I think it would have been a pretty easy win.
At this point, if Henderson is fighting for a title, he should be doing some ‘damage control’ on his record and legacy and try to go out with as many avenged losses as possible.
Rogerio and Rampage rematches would be extremely fun to see. Hell, I’d even like a rematch with Big Nog in a heavyweight fight.
Chris Groves - February 17, 2012
I don't think Dan would easily beat Rogerio
Dan wouldn’t be able to take him down and I wouldn’t be shocked if Rogerio outpointed him.
discoandherpes - February 17, 2012
This takes the term Decision Dan to a whole new level
MPos - February 17, 2012
Is it selfish...
…To ask Hendo and Shogun to endure another plane-crash-of-a-fight this spring? Fuck man, how easy is it to hype that fight? Play a few clips of the barn-burner it was, slice in a few “It was the greatest fight I’ve ever seen” testimonials, and we’re set. And if Shogun wins, we’ve potentially got the best trilogy in the history of MMA on our hands.
medium seen - February 17, 2012
Lyoto would be a good fight that the fans would like to see, but it doesn’t make sense for Dan. He’s old, and this is probably his last go around.
And much to my disdain, on paper Lyoto has lost 3 of his last 4. The win over Randy… well obviously Randy was nowhere near his prime, and the win over Shogun was highly controversial. Some people probably make the case he has not had a solid win since UFC 98 with Rashad. Which is why I would like to see him fight Dan, since he is my favorite fighter and I desperately want to see him get some momentum back.
Dev93L - February 17, 2012
Somebody call Rich Franklin
Looks like there’s a rematch to be made for him.
KGNLuc - February 17, 2012
from hendo's twitter
Johnathan Willis - February 17, 2012
Good
Give him Machida, then. Problem solved.
Baba Booey - February 17, 2012
Hendo got tooled by Jake Shields, who currently isn’t a too 5 WW. Crazy.
Hardcharger - February 17, 2012 via mobile
