Georges St. Pierre made a comment on UFC Primetime that caused a bit of a stir when he said that Nick Diaz was "fake crazy." During Friday's Q&A session for UFC 143, GSP was asked about the comment and attempted to clear up exactly what he meant.
What I believe is, he's a very smart guy. He knows what he's doing. He would not be able to do what he's done in his career if he wasn't smart. I do believe maybe he has some mental issues ... I do not believe he is a bad human being. Truth my eyes, because he has been very disrespectful to me and because maybe we'll fight, he's disrespectful, but to you guys, I'm sure if you saw him and asked him for an autograph he'd give it to you.
So, basically GSP thinks that Diaz is playing a character. The same as people accuse Chael Sonnen of doing on a regular basis.
Is GSP onto something? Or is this the real Nick Diaz?

Diaz himself suggested it wasn't completely all natural
When he said he has to play the bad guy to get fights after the Penn fight.
But if you were to do a Prime Time with Sonnen, you’d see a completely different person, whereas Nick has remained pretty much the same.
YPG - February 4, 2012
I doubt it.
Sonnen pretty much never breaks character in front of the cameras.
ElliotMatheny - February 4, 2012
I believe it's called...
not breaking “kayfabe”.
jcbrewer - February 4, 2012
I hate that word.
ElliotMatheny - February 4, 2012
That is just Nick’s personality, GSP wants to believe it’s fake crazy
Elitex10x - February 4, 2012
Fuck That.
Nick is the real deal. There is nothing fake about his act, when he is mean mugging and shit he actually does want to fight.
Go figure. If anyone is fake, it’s Georges. I was literally pissing myself laughing when he said:
“I can be so dark, ee as no idea. NO IDEA. EE as no idea ow dark I can be. In my own ed. Sometimes.”
Sure Georges, your a regular Edgar Allen Poe over there, we can all tell.

he’s the fakest champ ever.
AGonzo - February 4, 2012
How so? Did he secretly lose all those title fights?
Magaca - February 4, 2012
What?
Faker than Jon Jones?
Gentleman start up your typing fingers, it’s that discussion yet again
IRodC - February 4, 2012
Jon Jones is the Jone Jones of being fake
Day Man - February 4, 2012
In fairness to Rashad
He uses his fakeness to set up his wrestling quite well.
TMadeBurner - February 4, 2012 via mobile
*Jon
Day Man - February 4, 2012
"Very fake in his fakitude is Georges, Joe"
“Georges has been working on his fakeness very hard in rehab, under the tutelage of Fakeass Zahabi and Fakie Roach. You could also tell that he’s had some top shelf farcing partners at Fakeson and Fakeljohn’s gym.”
ElliotMatheny - February 4, 2012
I think Nick Diaz seems pretty authentic.
Legit crazy is Nick Diaz, Joe.
Magaca - February 4, 2012
If it's a character, Nick's been playing it ever since second grade
…someone post the photo….
Armchair Cornerman - February 4, 2012
the original or the hilarious shopped primetime one?
Superstitiousmma - February 4, 2012
The grade two photo of Diaz on primetime was shopped? I dont think so.
Adam Lee - February 4, 2012
The primetime one wasn't the photoshopped one.
Sweet Scientist - February 4, 2012
if Diaz wins...can't wait for the post fight when GSP enters the cage
Frank Lee - February 4, 2012
If you watched primetime
even from his inner circle says the same thing about him – this ain’t no act.
WHERE YOU AT GEORGES!
sklart - February 4, 2012
I think in promotion of fights he plays a slightly exaggerated version of himself
but all of the social ticks we’ve seen him display in interviews and such are all him IMO…
Tonley - February 4, 2012
If Nick Diaz retires then says
“Hey guys, I’m perfectly normal. I can’t believe every one fell for that. I know I make good money. I know there is no one behind me when I do an interview. My brothers the same way. We’re not crazy, I was playing a character. You really think I would use terms like haduken shit and fake titty mutant bitches? Come on. I bet you guys believe I’m a ninja as well!”
My mind would be blown and the Diaz brothers would be the greatest trolls the world have ever seen.
discoandherpes - February 4, 2012
OMG
Part 1 is complete!
Warhand - February 5, 2012
Here is the thing:
Nick is crazy. He lost a shot at the title with GSP because he didn’t want to do the presser. Thats crazy! If it is an act, then the act cost him the title shot with GSP and that is really crazy! Nick Diaz doesn’t know how to do much of anything beside run, swim, bike, and fight. Oh yeah and smoke weed.
Warhand - February 4, 2012
That's not crazy - that's commitment to the character. Method Acting 101!
Scott C. Broussard - February 4, 2012
both
little from column A
little from column B
Cory Braiterman - February 4, 2012
I am from the 209
He is not faking that attitude. People live like that out there.
Ionnes - February 4, 2012
Honestly, the number one quality a professional fighter needs to succeed is being good at fighting. Nick is good at fighting. You don’t really need to be smart, or even particularly sane, to be a good fighter, as long as your craziness doesn’t interfer with your training or fighting.
Simen - February 4, 2012
Mind Blown
You’re telling me that the most important quality for being a successful fighter is being a good fighter? Sorry, bro. But until you show me some scientific studies or other hard evidence to back that statement up, I’m calling bullshit.
Ironbuddha - February 4, 2012
He is disrespectful to GSP
Because he believes that he is a punk and not a real “fighter”. He believes he’s a points fighter and doesn’t have what he believes is the proper approach to fighting.
dedstrk316 - February 4, 2012
I think GSP is acting more than Diaz is lately.
All this talk of how he hates Diaz, wants to destroy him, etc. I don’t think for a second that GSP is hurt by anything Diaz says. I just don’t. And besides, we all know GSP is a nerdlinger. :)
pud333 - February 4, 2012
I don't think so
I think GSP is bothered by Nick.
discoandherpes - February 4, 2012
it was a very unique UFC Prime Time featuring 3 persons instead of the regular two
and to me GSP seemed the most dreadful of the 3 guys.
And i cant wait for the event to get started! I dont know if anyone of you have seen Snatch one of my favorite movies with that great Oasis song during the fight ( f..king in the bushes) tonight it will be a fight for which this song would pass perfectly. Another song from the movie which would pass for GSP is the " Angel " from Massive Attack.
Also, Nick is Nick being Nick. But i dont know where to put that handshake i have seen today.
szanpan - February 4, 2012
I liked you better when you typed like an excited school girl.
Sugel Mendoza - February 4, 2012
I hope you are right.
Cause I’d like to see GSP fight with some emotion.
pud333 - February 4, 2012 via mobile
Me too
Although he might decide to strike with Diaz more than he needs to.
The problem with Diaz isn’t that he starches dudes in a one sided manner. They think “Nick Diaz is making fun of me in the middle of a fight? Fuck this guy”. So guys decide to strike with him and they start landing. They think “Hey, I could beat Nick Diaz standing. I’m landing punches.” Then they start to slow down with their counter punches, while Diaz is keeping the same pace he did at the beginning of the round. Then they realize that they are getting hit a lot. “Oh fuck, Diaz is hitting me three times every time I hit him once”. Diaz starts digging into the body and they’re like “Oh shit, those body shots are taking it out of me”. Then they gas.
“Oh fuck, Diaz is about to beat the shit out of me.”
Then he does.
Like a bawse.
discoandherpes - February 4, 2012
Um, what?
RolloTomasi - February 4, 2012
can we instead discuss Nick's manscaping?
because he has no more body hair and his eyebrows appear to have been waxed
mollcutpurse - February 4, 2012
What is there to discuss?
discoandherpes - February 4, 2012
LOL for me too !!!!! BUT ALSO the most waxed eyebrows are of Pettis
and whenever i look to that guy i m asking myself wow is it possible can it really be that he is waxing his eyebrows THIS much?
szanpan - February 4, 2012
He's a triathlete
Shaving body hair helps his swimming.
Scott Whitaker - February 4, 2012
Why does "fake crazy" appear in quotations but not in the quote?
Is there more of the interview that’s not included? Because if not that seems misleading to put in a title. It’s much stronger than what GSP says in that snippet.
Scott Whitaker - February 4, 2012
Diaz isn't a very bright individual
But a very hard-working one who deserves to be where he is today.
rockyman500 - February 4, 2012
I dispute that
How do you know Nick Diaz isn’t an intelligent person?
discoandherpes - February 4, 2012
Just for example
At a post-fight conference, probably 137, a reporter asked him something about feeling bittersweet and he didn’t understand what he was talking about. I know it could’ve just been something he didn’t know, but nothing about this guy says intelligent being. Sonnen is a perfect example of someone who pretends to be stupid while actually being an intelligent man, as you can see in a rare, calm interview. Diaz shows no sign of intelligence, outside of fighter IQ.
rockyman500 - February 5, 2012
GSP is the one who is fake.
Say whatever you will about Diaz…that he is an douchebag or a punk, but you cannot deny his commitment and intimidating skill. And if you are going to sit there and spout off about he is pretending, I don’t have anything to say to you, he is one of the realest people in this business, even if it sometimes endangers his career, he is still true to himself. Hmm, I’m reminded of someone else who did that, oh yeah, it was Muhammad Ali.
It pisses me off when keyboard warriors talk shit about him, it is obvious who the haters are. Everyone wants to say he is an asshole, acts like a gangbanger, Dana White wants him to “play by the rules” and what happens? He shakes Condit’s hand, he does press conferences, he does a three part prime-time special and people still give him shit, and the UFC editing dept. tries to form sentences that he didn’t say with words said in a different intent. So, what do you want? You ask the man to play the game and act respectful in front of cameras and then you edit it?
I’m with Diaz… he is a real fighter, once he gets in the mindset that he is going to fight his opponent he doesn’t want to be posed somewhere sitting 4 feet away and chit chat about it because he is supposed to HATE that guy until that fight is finished.
GSP is the one who is the puppet of the UFC, he’ll say whatever they want him to, he is their golden boy, now more than ever.
If this Diaz thing is all an act then he is the Daniel Day Lewis of MMA…and if you think that then you are retarded.
If you don’t like his personality or the way he speaks, fine, I understand, but that is separate from his fighting and the two shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.
Bottom line, Nick is one of the best P4P fighters on this planet and he deserves respect.
jcbrewer - February 4, 2012
Nick Diaz is NOT crazy. But he is NOT fake either
What I believe is that Nick have communicating issue with others. If I am not wrong, he is either Bi-Polar Disorder or ADHD.
I am not asking GSP to forgive him for what he have said. I wonder if he would forgive him if Nick just couldn’t control what he say most of the time? I understand that most people would assume that the fact that you are an adult, you must talk like everyone else. Personally, I believe that he didn’t want to behave that way. He just couldn’t control himself.
