WE AREEEEEEEEEEEE LIVE!
Card FULL of bad decisions

Which was the worst?

Full?

Which ones did you think were bad?

Koscheck pierce was a bit dodgy

Riddle/Martinez and Koscheck/Pierce were bad in my opinion. Figueroa/Caceres was questionable as well.

I feel like that Caceres thing was sketchy

Condit just Floyd Mayweathered the crap outta Nick Diaz and pulled out a unanimous decision. No wonder why the outcome was so polarizing. I love it.

Diaz was doing the mayweathering with his posing and trash talking
diaz will never win a technical fight, an all out brawl hell yes. But when it's not an a brawl, he's an ordinary fighter.
Giving round 2 to Condit is ridiculous
I had 2-5 for Condit

I gave 1&2 Diaz.
3&4 Condit
5 Diaz

but I'm very biased towards Nick Diaz
1st rd draw, pretty even, 5th to diaz and rest to condit i suppose
People say he is a warrior - but what kind of warrior you are when you can't handle defeat? Diaz is all show

he’s a warrior. when he’s winning, crazy brawls.

What are the chances Diaz goes over to boxing?

How badly does he want to get his ass kicked?

I think it depends on his contract

If he’s still got fights (which he probably does), he ain’t going anywhere. Even if he does, he’ll come back once he figures out he’ll make a FRACTION of what he thinks he will.

Two fans...

One Diaz, one Condit split the first two rounds.

But both agreed round five went to Diaz.

would be a sad way for Diaz to go out IF it’s his last fight

Brent Brookehouse had it 49-46 Condit on the Bloody Elbow live blog.
Koscheck drinking game

I had to take a drink every time Koscheck tugged on his shorts, needless to say it was a good fight for me!

Gotta wonder why his coaches don’t fix his nervous twitch with the shorts… some electric shock therapy, shock him every time he grabs his shorts

I can see the point Nick made about Condit backing up the whole fight, but he still got out struck.
Leg kicks

That was the same plan Cyborg had fighting Nick till he decided to stop throwing them for some reason.

Nick has to learn to check

stopped throwing them

AKA gassed the fuck out

GSP/Condit

What kind of awful, boring fight could we be in for?

who cares it's gonna make a load of ppvs!
Mmm....

Sure about that?

no way that's boring
Carlos Condit doens't have the best takedown defense

Just sayin’

If Nick Diaz had just stood in the middle of the ring, wouldve been interesting to see him counterpunching

1st part of the fight he was showing quicker hands than condit

He specified that the kicks were “little baby leg kicks”

Condit won 4 of 5 rounds in my book. Nick couldn't apply the pressure because Condit worked great angles, it was clinical.

Nick Diaz is a 7-5 UFC fighter

Take this for what you will Ariel Helwani and Blood Stain Lane had it 3-2 for Diaz

No one ever said this was a clear victory for either fighter
Dan Henderson also had it 3-2 Diaz
Mark Munoz had it 4-1 Diaz

Ok that’s weird

Why should condit stand in front of a guy that throws tons of punches and is as accurate as it gets?
This is why...

Someone finally beat a diaz without holding them down hugging them.
this fight is the new Lyoto/Shogun. Great technical fight

But people will bitch about the decision for months

not me btw. I had Condit by 4-1. But seriously check the live thead right now

respect to condit even though im so bummed nick lost
GSP is gonna do the same thing to Condit tho

hold him down and wrestle molest him

People really don't appreciate the technicality of MMA.
Too many times people have to adapt their style to become well-rounded

Then they lose their original ability in their chosen martial art or wrestling

Having two pair of his guys fighting for the title is a huge feather in Greg Jackson's cap.

Agree with Brian. I think he was tricked by Condit’s talk/past performances and expected Condit to just come forward and stay in front of him.
So as Brian said he was lulled into it

How awful was Diaz’ corner? Telling him he was up 3-1?

Diaz doesn't understand you don't get points for taunting.
Diaz doesn't understand you don't win around for walking forward.
Photo of the bike that Condit won

http://pic.twitter.com/PCRQDGvW

Well at least Condit will appreciate it, Diaz couldn't give a fuck when they announced it at the Pre Fight Press Conference.

Diaz is skipping the press conference? His nameplate was removed from the table

Ha are you surprised?

did you really expect him to be there?

Nothing I saw from Condit or Diaz tonight lends me to believe they have anything to threaten GSP with.

I don’t think it’s unfair to think that Diaz probably won at least 2 rounds, rounds 2 and 5. 5 was close, but I scored it for Diaz. Condit took 3 and 4 easily, and I think round 1 was incredibly close.

diaz vs fitch would be nice.
You want to bury nick diaz already?
it maybe the closest thing to GSP vs Diaz

Condit vs Ellenburger rematch after he destorys Diego?

Hendricks/Koscheck is the fight that should be made
Haha rematch would be awesome, but very unlikely.
Bishop, the voice of reason
A lot of people did score it for Diaz. But a lot of people probably need glasses too.

Brian made the point that no combos of more than 4-5 punches landed…4-5 punch combos are not insignificant

you act like he was landing them the whole time

He did it like 3-4 times in the whole fight.

still its not like Diaz didn’t land anything when he had double the punch count. You make it seem like he did nothing

Nice word play Brian

On GSP’s Recovery: “There’s no rush.”

Shameless self promotion

Oops I did it again.

I have to join HKL? Isnt it part of SB Nation?

yes it is u just have to join to comment

ah yes. I see now. As the blind man said

Condit will defend

Malki Kawa said he would

"You got Floyd Mayweather making 25 million, he can't stop the double leg"- Classic Nick Diaz
Brian sounds like Diaz right now.

Wait. What was the Fight of the Year candidate?!?!

"We talkin' 'bout fantasy!"
Publish those picks brian, where u fail?

potential fight of the year candidate? which one? Diaz vs Condit?

Brian pull his Garfield?

doesnt Ronda train with the Diaz’s?

yep and she's very bias

her opinion is therefore invalid. DENIED

Miesha Tate has a strange looking face

So I think I like Ronda more now.

someone said she looked like Eli Manning with a hot body in the live thread

I find that to be spot on

Rofl

I must have missed that one

Jeebus. That's awesome.
Who does Brian think he is with that fake belt, Chael Sonnen?!

If GSP is out till November, can’t we just do this fight over again in July?

Wow, shocking. Ronda Rousey is talking

Funnily enough, miesha tate thought condit won
Press conference starting now.

Ellenberger, Rousey, Dan Hendo, Mark Munoz all picked Diaz

how did diaz won. damn it!

Dana had 1 and 2 for Nick and 3-5 for Condit

If you don't want leg kicks to count

switch to boxing

Yeah, screw MMA, he's gonna go box

When his UFC contract expires in…. a long time.

Dana White scored it 48-47
Dana also looks agitated

Not that that’s anything new…

he is cranky as fuck because Nick Diaz is a child
stick and move is a good boxing technic. it's not running from ur opponent.
Moving out of the way of a punch

is not “running”

Getting cornered and trading punches with Diaz would have been a death sentence for Condit.

caller never saw Ben Askren or Tyrone Woodley
And that's exactly why Woodley's never gonna see the light of day in the UFC

I feel like Hemmi wants to strangle this caller through the phone

or not

my bad guyz

"Only in da UFC"

“It’s a FIGHT, not running around”

Ugh, are we sure we want more casuals watching?

i thought that guy was aight man

i know what its like to be bummed out after your guy loses

it's ok to be bummed

but stay logical

Dunno about pride not allowing this

I once saw bobby ologun running circles around akibono throwing leg kicks and occasionally being squashed on the ground, strangest thing ever

I really don’t understand people who wanted Condit to not move away from the cage.

Josh Koscheck said he's done with AKA at the Press Conference.
wow
He said he's done "associating with some people"
Maybe he is mad at Fitch over some Skyrim
Haha

Wasn’t there some drama over the Head Jiu Jitsu instruction at AKA?

yup Dave Camarillo left
Wasn't this kind of expected?

I forget his name, but one of the trainers or someone left AKA, Koscheck was kicked out for a week… He was billed as fighting out of Fresno today, not San Jose.

MMA is more than just about "fighting." And people have to realize that. It's a sport, and part of the sport is strategy.

And Condit did not just run around. He outstruck Diaz. MMA is more than just two guys standing in the pocket and trading punches. That’s what makes MMA so beautiful.

Diaz Apologists

Think that people should just walk forward, punch eachother in the face, Rock’em Sock’em Robot style.

just stand there with your hands down and let Nick tee off on you
It's not a real fight unless Diaz wins

Or something.

NO CIRCLING! NO STRATEGY! ALL WAR!!!!

I LIKE MY FIGHTERS PUNCHDRUNK AND BRAINDEAD! RAWRRRRRR!!!
so a "fight" in mma is an all out brawl type of bout ? laughable.
If Condit fights GSP, it could change his whole life if he wins.

So I get why Condit fought the way he fought. It was brilliant.

So

I just got back home from seeing the pay per view on the big screen in 3D. More on that in another comment I’ll post a little later.

I’ll be very interested in hearing what everyone said about the decision, which I have to wait for until the show is available for download. While I’ve always disliked the Diaz boys, I was surprised that Condit won, especially with those scorecards. The big crowd in the auditorium had a mixed reaction to the decision.

was the video quality awesome?
Well

Sometimes with 3D there’s the ghosting effect, but overall the picture was fine. I wouldn’t say it was crystal clear HD but I was fine with it.

Doubt it..

Big-screen quality < HD at home

I personally can’t stand movie theaters anymore, the size takes away from the quality. Also, fitting their 3D glasses over my glasses just ain’t working.

was chael not telling the truth at the last fox show then? :(
Meh, story telling is fine and all

but I watch this sport to watch two great fighters against each other.

Ronda isn’t honest. She admits she’s sayin stuff just to get title shots

WOOOOHOOOOOHOOOOOOO

Diaz should have changed strategy after the first two rounds. It was clear Condit wasn't going to play that game.

But he didn’t. And he lost. It is what it is.

Don't know if it was posted earlier

Fightmetric stats

This guy has a voice that should be broadcasting smooth jazz on the radio!!!

Nick Diaz just seems to be the guy who divides fans on what mma fighters should be in terms of fighter/professional sportsman

And what mma should be about in a fighting sense

Nick Diaz is the opposite of a professional fighter
The 3D Experience

So, I went to a theatre a little north of Orlando to watch the pay per view on the big screen. It was like a 45 minute drive just to get there and then another 45 minutes to get back home, but it was worth it.

I don’t know if anyone reading this heard about the experience, so here are some details. As I mentioned just above, the picture quality wasn’t exactly HD, but aside from some ghosting the 3D effect worked. There was a minor hiccup or two, but none during the actual fights.

Most importantly, there were not only completely different camera angles, but also different announcers! No Goldy and Rogan, but rather Anik and Florian. The former was good, the latter… he was tolerable most of the time.

There weren’t really any crowd shots so I had to try and spot some celebrities in the front row, and the only ones I saw were MC Hammer and (I swear) Pete Rose!

Other than that, it was a real good experience. Oh, and at least where I went, the price was 20 instead of 25 bucks.

i wonder if Pete lost his ass tonight.
You Bet!

Actually, I don’t know if he did; I just couldn’t resist.

Main event was excellent

like Cruz v. Faber excellent

Carlos Condit:

At one point I threw a spinning elbow and Nick said to me : Oh so we’re throwing spinning shit now?"

Does anyone feel that the SF heavyweight division is once again vindicated
Three or four men don't make a division
WHat about BIG Johnson?
Call me when he does anything meaningful

Throwing heavy leather at Joe Beltran is fine, but you can get some local guy to do that too. He hasn’t shown me anything to believe that he’s top-anything.

RT @MikeChiappetta: One of the things Diaz said to Condit, after a backfist: "We’re throwing spinning shit now?"
As a Roy Nelson fan it saddens me to say

he is no where near the top echelon of heavyweights, but he is still very fun to watch.

Nelson Vs. Mitrione please

Lavar Johnson, Overeem, Werdum
Every BE staff member except Anton had Werdum winning. I don't think anyone expected him to lose

The impressive thing was how his stand up looked

Fabricio just said he pointed to the mat to get Roy to look there so he could kick him in the head!
Awesome

That’s what I thought at the time, but I didn’t think that was actually the case. It was like the old “Hey, your shoelaces are untied” trick.

Cheick Kongo for a no. 1 contender fight!!!!!!!

If he beats Hunt he’s got a few wins in a row

Make. It. Happen.
Werdum / Mir is a great fight. If Werdum brings it to Mir the way he did to Roy, I think he would win. Mir would crumble under the knees.
Werdum would have slept Mir with those knees
Roy Nelson is a mid-tier UFC heavy.
.

I can never get these to appear in my posts, even if I use the image button in the toolbar

How do you get it?

Sometimes it helps to use a photo service like photobucket or something like that. Then use the direct link with the image button.

I'll try this

it it works, i was kinda saving it for bisping fight

It worked, thanks

Yay! Pats on the back for everyone!

By the way Werdum isn't at the point where he can do without a translator

he kept answering the wrong questions in the Rogan interview

Doesn’t help that Rogan thinks simplifying the questions means talking LOUDLY and SLOOOOWLY.

That's cause we've seen Mir get smashed on multiple occasions at the top level
Mir vs Dos Santos/Velasquez/Overeem

goes no different

You’re probably right, but let’s do it anyway.

Anyone that can hit accurately will crush Mir
And not try to finish with a guillotine...
Dos Santos and Overeem are both monsters.
How does Herb Dean take 2 points away from Caceres for a low blow then not take anythin away from Koscheck for the multiple open hands
Yeah I thought Pierce won too. Kos caught a break. It is clear Kos stopped evolving a while ago.

Yeah, he evolved and then hit the wall.

Mike Pierce has made a career of losing close decisions
Dong Hyung Kim is around somewhere too right
indeed sir

Oh yeah. They must’ve scraped him off the cage by now.

The front kick to Sean Pierson didn’t prove his consciousness?

That wasn't really him

They got him going on that Weekend at Bernie’s style.

it was a dong marionette

so to speak

There's a shit-ton of parity in the welterweight division. Probably the most after 155 once you look under GSP
Yo I just checked the SB Nation Rankings- how is Dong Hyun Kim not in the top 25?
Really!?

That’s…. odd.

Just when you thought you were mad about the Diaz decision

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVyJt94u_VU

209 bitch!

double birds!

lols. new tv required
Guy is a brain trust right there.
Gotta luv Diaz fans
2 push kicks. First time a push kick led to a KO
New level of butthurt
I thought Diaz fans didn't believe in kicks?

If only you’d used the reply button

I don't use little baby reply buttons
I get paid too much to deal with this shit.
I'm gonna help my brother with his tv, but im done
Congratulations, but I came here to COMMENT!
I pushed the new comment button all night, he just ran to the reply button
Maybe if you'd chinned into the comment, you could've gotten the rec.
Still didn't see barao on his back though, be interesting to see him in deep waters and how he copes

On the ground that is

Barao is a monster on the ground

I’m sure he’s solid off his back

Was that from his WEC fights?

He’s only really been on the offensive in the UFC

68 low kicks
18 were considered power kicks.
Porier (sp.) took it to the ground cause Holloway was winning the stand up

but once on the ground he dominated

Oh shit, I hit my parlay!!!!

he had the armbar/triangle choke but had it from top position so it looked badass

A DQ would have been more fair than 2 points.

Let’s be clear Caceres was winning the stand up too apart from the head kick even before the low blow

The head kick seems to have wiped that out from everyone’s mind.

The nutshots hurt

But they didn’t affect how Figueroa could (not) handle himself on the ground.

His stance is very akin to Fei Long from super street fighter. Almost a Bruce Lee stance

If he was bouncing on his toes

He’d be Law from Tekken, methinks.

Stephen Thompson*

BECW

Made me happy for the Martinez robbery

Thanks for the show, bye
