BJ Penn vs Nate Diaz in Hawaii

I would count on it

Thought you were done with MMA. “Fuck this gay earth” and such.

They said Nick Diaz may get a rematch

He doesn’t deserve it but this is the world we live in

That keeps my MMA fandom

So I guess this means Nate is now officially a “Just Bleed” fan?

what are you talking about?
I like this feature.

I’m surprised BJ isn’t jumping at the chance to fight in Hawaii with the UFC. Weird. Seems like if there was any desire in him to fight again, it’d be ignited at that opportunity.

If he returns

it better be at LW.

or LHW

Make it happen!

BJ vs Vladimir Matyushenko

It blows my mind that he won a round against Machida.

Bj fought machida at hw (-
Gah...fail...

Meant to add, Mach was 225. Bj 191 (wiki)

Serra rematch at heavyweight?
I sorta took the BJ/Hawaii thing as a "what we WOULD have done"

Now that’s he’s no longer contending for a title, or even really fighting regularly, I can’t see this happening. When he was mowing people over at lightweight, sure… but I think they threw these plans out the window once he fought Edgar.

Miller vs Maia

would either be the most hilarious or depressingly inept fight ever.

I don't know

I expect both to bounce back in a big way. Might be a fight worth making.

Hey Nate

Nice to see you back to posting more ’round here. I dig it.

thanks man!

nice to see some old school BElitists still around.

I second this

Good to have’ye back.

Also..

I’m wondering if the date of Hawaii is what’s pending BJ’s participation. Anyone care to speculate on when this card would even take place?

Bring back Kendall Grove to fight Mayhem on this card.

I guess.

So BJ is not retired?

That was just a “I quit because no title shots are coming soon” phase?

I think he at least wanted to be two time with one of the belts for his legacy

The Edgar 2 fight and Nick Diaz fight kind of discouraged him a bit

UFC on FOX 4 set for Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Aug. 4 – MMAmania
It’s official UFC on Fox is coming back to SoCal, this time to the Staples Center instead of Anaheim’s Honda Center. Anyone care to look up the relative capacities of the two joints?

We’ll just use their basketball setups. Honda Center has a capacity of 18,336, while Staples Center seats 18,997 for Lakers games and 19,060 for Clippers games… anyways. Staples is larger, but not by any wide margin.

I'd like to see Mayhem get a fight with a lower tier gatekeeper type

Jorge Santiago would have been a good test. Anyone from the Jason MacDonald, Tom Lawler, Mike Maszensio, Steve Cantwell tier would be acceptable.

Mahyem has fought in Hawaii quite alot

this could be a good one for him to return mayhem never loss two fights in a row, the UFC should sign Jacare and make a third Mayhem vs Jacare, but there is no set date on this trip all they know is they want to make a Hawaii card.

I don't think anyone is really clamoring for Jacare/ Mayhem 3

I’d much rather see Jac fight some of the elite middleweights of the UFC. People forget how close his fight with Rockhold was.

So true about the Diaz condit focus

Seems like opinions are certainly like a-holes, everyone’s got one. Fwiw, I and my buddy were pro diaz, and called the fight 49-46 condit while being impressed at his gameplan execution and composure.

Sure, would have been more fun if he went for a Ko but Diaz really should have been cutting off and charging him including when he turned and jogged to the center. And nick stupidly left takedown until fifth… Poor decision.

Not the most exciting fight but we did find it entertaining enough. Expectations of war were perhaps sky high ahead of the fight.

you are not pro-diaz

This is thinly veiled Pro-Condit For Lyfe speak

Nope

Diaz is by far the more interesting guy for me and I really wanted to see him vs gsp

Also, we all had picked Diaz to win, pre fight

For picks, I go with who I think is gonna win, regardless of who I like better

There's a difference between a fan and a nuthugger

But you wouldn’t know about that.

Lol

If nick can win vs condit then gsp, he will have earned his nuthuggers

On rewatch with a different buddy...

He had it for Diaz while I thought 48-47 condit or perhaps a draw. Funny how things seem different depending on soberness level, who ur seeing it with, and hindsight.

Thats because in reality

The fight was a draw. It needs a rematch but really it needed to keep going for two or more rounds until one fighter’s strategy would change, they were stalemated.

BJ vs Kos main event

Make it so.

CB Dolloway might be a winnable fight for Mayhem if he’s still around.

I don't know

Mayhem looked soooooooo bad against Bisping.
It kind of made me take a second look at his entire career.

I’m not so sure he could be CB.

jason miller v. cung le?

i know the conventional thinking is to have le fight a striker of some kind, but that would be a hell of a fun build up.
